My understanding is that cancelled factory orders get re-allocated to the next person in line with that spec automatically. Once the cars are at the dealerships and people don't pick them up because they can't afford them or whatever reason they have, that dealer will then want the car shifted immediately. I doubt there will ever be a process here for Ford to individually contact everyone in the uk in-line of order placement for cars that are on lots, these will go to people that are chasing and prepared to buy a car on the spot. That's what's already been happening. A few people have been lucky to snatch up cancelled orders.

I'm afraid my cynical view, and reading Andy's actual words, suggests this is not being done for us who are currently waiting. It's for orders 'going forwards'. i.e. in future if someone wants to order a Mustang they can enquire of the database who has one, or one on the way, in the spec they want and buy it from them (like in the States). Same as you can now for available unsold or stock cars, or nearly new cars come to that. It avoids one dealer having odd specs sat in a field waiting for a customer to walk into that dealer by matching orders to availability; keeping stock 'factory fresh' is good for overheads. I'd love to be proved wrong but I can't see my dealer playing along with me finding a car that was ordered by Benfields that matches my spec and getting them to agree to divert that order to him. Maybe Ford can impose an instruction to trade, at trade, between the dealers. Maybe it will work for the dealers that are owned by Ford. But then they would have some sort of 'priority' which Andy said wasn't the case. Not so simple.
That's what I got as well, but I can't see why we couldn't use the system as well? After all some of us have been waiting a long time :D

The hardest part would be finding a car to match our current orders,

I'd be happy to get a CO V8 without the sat nav and reverse sensors if mine is not with me this week.

This was recently posted by Andy over on Pistonheads. Reproduced for info here (hoping Andy doesn't mind);

"There has been a prioritisation of the build of the UCL cars, however this is within the confines of build constraints - i.e. Parts available etc.
Initially we had a constraint on V8 RHD engines, followed by the globe box lid containing the airbag.

We held every vehicle to ensure we were happy with build quality - RHD Mustang has been 50 years in the making, so we have just been rightly paranoid about quality.

Once vehicles are in Europe, and in particular Southampton - they are prioritised for delivery, however you will appreciate that if a load is "built" for one dealer and we can squeeze a Mustang on the truck even though it may not be the oldest vehicle we will place it on the truck.

UCL cars will be separately identified with a dedicated plaque, and the new news is that we are working on an "on track event" possibly on the Silverstone International Circuit for UCL customers - more of that to come

We are prioritising every vehicle that we can

Things are moving quickly - we have shortened build times, and are working on quicker shipping routes

We have now also employed a dedicated person to provide a customer help desk for delivery and information requests.

I hope that helps"

For me this is the most helpful response I've seen. Looking forward to details for the 'customer help desk'.

Regardless of which it was, it'd be nice to just be 'offered' the different variants of car, for instance, you might have ordered a Black V8, but a Guard V8 takes your fancy as well, same spec, different colour. Could be worth just offering them out to people to 'get rid of them' (in fords eyes).

I See they didn't name this dedicated person. Not like that would help.
I assume they're named for the salesmen to go to, not for us to go to. I think the name is 'Mustang6g' not sure though :lol:

Many thanks Andy. I have emailed the helpdesk to see what they can do about shortening my wait time.

Are Ford prioritizing customers with outstanding orders before new requests for cars in transit or is it on a first come first served basis?

Any chance you can clarify where and how the details of the unsold cars will be shared?

Amongst dealers? Amongst members of the public that use the email address? Only posted on this forum (which personally I think would be great since forum members are, by definition, proper fans of the car)?

I have my car already and am loving it, but there are guys on here still waiting so the info is for them.

Yeah i'd even appologised at the start of my email knowing full well it was about to get rinsed, especially with how quickly word travels, and as well if this is being posted on PH etc.

I agree with Centurion07 by trait the fans who take more time out of their days to obsess about the cars (Like those on this forum) should, hold some extra weight over the 'average-joe' who 'Just likes the car'.

I'd probably sooner class us fanatics than fans though :thumbsup:
