I have a minor oil leak on a car under factory warranty. I was told that I would need to leave my car for roughly a week to have it looked at.

Is this normal?

I wish it wasn't true. For it to "Officially" be in the queue, the car has to be at the dealership. I live close to the dealership and offered to bring it by as soon as I get the call that it's ready to be worked on, but that wouldn't work. He didn't expect the wait time to go down any time soon.

Ford dealers suck and unfortunately that is the world we live in. I had one sit on the lot for weeks waiting to be looked at for an issue with a tick only to be told to pick it up after a few weeks because they would not look at it due ot the fact I installed an oil air separator.

That's a serious load of crap that your car has to physically be there to be considered in the queue for a warranty repair,or any repair. Dealing with other brands and also Ford.I have never heard that. That is dealer-specific bullshite.
Regarding the original question, repair times vary quite a bit depending on the season. In winter, when all the snowbirds disrupt life in our area for up to 5 months, things really back up at most dealerships. From April to Thanksgiving,no problem.

Is it the timing chain cover leak?

My dealer had the car for ~24 hours and had the problem fixed. They replaced the timing chain cover gasket. This involves taking off the valve cover and oil pan, and locking the camshafts with a keeper...so it is a fairly major job (if it's the same repair my Ecoboost needed!).

I lived with the problem for almost a year, as it was next to impossible to get a rental car at the dealer (recalls on other Ford products). Just had to add a quart of oil every ~3000 miles or so...

Socal?

What dealer??
Because we got some of the worst. Took 15 days for Ken Grody crap ford to fix a creaking door handle and rotate my tires.

Costa Mesa Ford, dont bother, i still gotta get their work fixed from door latch recall.

Yeah, I ordered the car and bought it from the same dealer...they're probably the best Ford dealer in the area. The service team advisor knows me by name (from earlier work/troubles...), so they know to treat me well ;)

I just make an appointment. It's the same at any dealer for any brand I've dealt with.
