Tweeter location

Has anyone abandoned the factory A-pillar location of the tweeter in favor of somewhere closer to the mid? They are a mile away from each other and at least in the base stock system the imaging is quite poor.

I was thinking of using the JL C3 system in coaxial form in the doors or mounting the tweeter around where the mids are in the upgraded system.

I just did exactly that, although I started with a 9 speaker premium system. I also replaced the bass drivers with JL units. I like the sound. I'll like it even better when I get the H/U output set to flat no clip mode and add a subwoofer.

I understand about the clip! I am deciding to build now or wait to OEM is ready for business with his new products. I am not sure I have ever put this much thought into a build before.
