Hi guys,

Does anyone here have a tvs or vmp gen2r blower and have issues with it going from no power to lots of power when you are driving normally like at a stop light, or making a right turn from a light? It hops around corners unless you are super careful which is stupid after the first couple of times.

Having such a hard time getting this dialed in and am wondering if it is normal to have so much drama in normal driving from a stop at light to partial throttle. I have an 82mm pulley.

Is this normal? Anyone else have these issues? Should I try a different tuner?

Not normal. The TVS blower is one of the smoothest driving power adders made. Either the tune is off or something is up with the bypass valve. Check your vacuum lines to and from the bypass ... also make sure the diaphragm isn't bad or leaking. Check to see and ensure there is nothing blocking the movement of the arm and plunger on the bypass.

Definitely does not sound right. Had an upgraded TVS on my 12' GT500 and that thing was rock solid. Drove like stock but with more power.

Did you send logs to VMP?
Probably completely unrelated, but I had issues with my car after installing headers and lowered engine mounts. The car was an absolute bitch to get moving.
Turns out the headers were clashing on the steering column causing false knock.
Hence, the engine would be idling fine, dial up some revs to ease the clutch out, engine moves, headers clash, timing pulled, lose power, dial up more revs, etc etc.
Jerky and shitty.

I never experienced that myself with mine. But as was mentioned earlier, if you can maybe send them your logs, they could possibly clear some thing up for you. VMP is quality stuff, and I've read their customer service is right up there as well.

The only issue I’m having with mine is when I’m cruising light throttle around 19vac it is very on off (open closed/throttle body) like a switch. I’ve used 2 tuners and one told me it’s the way boosted cars are. I’m pretty unhappy with it. Runs great otherwise. It feels like the throttlebody has a dead spot at that position. Not sure if this is what you mean.

Is that around 2k rpm with light throttle? That's where my issue is, always light throttle, great on wot.

I've been working with vmp since last June trying to get this to run properly. Long slow responses, coupled with weather changes here are making it difficult.

I’m not sure my issue is rpm related I think it’s load/pedal position issue. I will check rpm it happens at. I was not really happy with my VMP tune. It had the same issue. My problem is also very light throttle . Wot is perfect. What throttle body are you using?
Where in md are you located?

I don't have a SC but I had a VMP 93 tune. Nice, talented people, but, yes, long/slow responses for tune revisions. I used two of them up just trying to address why my radiator fans were always blasting after their tune (they eventually had to be replaced as they started squealing). Went to a tune by "Tuning by James" - way better.

You may try James or Rob Shoemaker. I think you'll want to get on a Dyno, at least.

I'm using the twin 60mm throttle body, and I'm in Crofton. Glad I'm not the only one lol!

Is that what tuning by James is? Where is he located? I'd probably use my great local shop jpc racing to do it but I feel like I want what I paid for from vmp.

So mine does it most noticeably at 2k but I can get it do happen at any rpm as long as my pedal and load are near same spot.
I ended up getting a dyno tune From Rev Auto and it hasn’t gone away. It has to be somthing with the setup. I’m running the VMP twin 67 Tb.

Try driving a Kenne Bell with the 168mm throttle body. I had my tune adjust the sensitivity of the throttle body so it enraged faster. Kenne Bell uses a different gear ration on their throttle body so it is not as snappy. But around part throttle with no boost and a light roll on it hits really hard. Do you have any videos?

A friend of mine had the same issue with his Gen2r and VMP tune. Ended up having Jon Jr @ Lund fix it via a remote tuning session. This was a few years back.
