Heading to the store yesterday, I noticed that tell tale rapid blinking that indicates one of my turn signal bulbs isn't working, only it was happening on both sides. Having been through this with one of the taillights on my previous 2015, I'm well aware of the replacement cost of those units, and I was immediately worried it was bad taillights rather than the just the bulbs in front. When I got to the store, I checked the lights on both sides, and as I feared, the center element on the left taillight was out and the outer element on the right taillight was out.
The strange thing is when I was heading home, both turn signals were working normally. When driving the car today, I made a pint to check and both side are still working. So, was this just a glitch that corrected itself when I restarted the car or an omen of immanent failure?
To add to the story a little more, my car has the 50 Years AP, so the taillights are the one year only style with the chrome trim. I know used standard taillight assemblies are easy enough to find at affordable prices, but working 50 year lights are getting scarce outside of just ordering new parts with their 4 digit price tag!
