Is there any benefit to have a “stock“ 2017 Ecoboost tuned and if so can it be done at your local Ford dealership.

I think I should add that I’m 70 years old and don’t have a clue about these newer cars - I’m used to working on flatheads and small block chevys. So any help would be appreciated.

I know that Lund makes a tune for the 2018+ cars. Ford Performance makes one as well but it's only good for about 30HP.

First off, are you using premium gas in your ecoboost? That's a good horsepower bump from regular gas just right there.

It's a good idea to have somebody who is familiar with tuning turbo engines work on your car. I'm like you, I'm 77 and don't know much about tuning. Fortunately, I have a son-in-law who builds and tunes turbo engines work on my turbos. There are tuner shops in most large cities that should be able to help you.

There is handheld and smart phone tuning software you can buy from Lund, Diablo, Cobb, NGauge and others. They connect to a USB port in your car. You can also download packaged tunes. But, it is still best to have somebody who knows what they are doing work on your car.

I had a tune done on a Porsche 911. The cost of the tuner and custom tune done by a shop was $1200.

i have a gt but also drive an 2019 audi s4 in the winter and have both an ecu and tcu tune on it. no other mods except a high flow air filter and the ecu tune made a world of difference. i assume the ecoboost would also see a major benefit. upping the boost makes a huge difference.

I'm 63 and race my Ecoboost Mustang on the 1/4 mile drag strip. Air, Fuel and a Ford Performance tune will get you into the mid to high 12 second range and around a 110 mph.

Was the Ford Performance tune done at a local dealership? If so what was the cost?

You can get the Ford Performance Tune done at a local Ford Dealership. Other tune devices/tuners will void your warranty if you are worried about that at all. Ford Performance Tune comes with a warranty. If you go with a ProTune (PD Tuning, Tune Plus) and use a Cobb Accessport Device, you can get a bit more power, but then you will probably be looking to upgrade at least the intercooler to sustain the power gains and keep everything cool. Good luck!

mustangecoboost.net also has good advice!
When it comes to tuning, unless you need a data logger or are using ethanol, etc. You best value is just the base 93 octane tune from your local Ford Performance dealer. The service manager can give you information about cost. And he should also be able to tell you if your car is, or has been tuned, or if it is already modified, air intake, intercooler, downpipe, etc.
