Hi guys,

I have an Auto MY18 GT with a H-Pipe and K&N drop in filter, and I am looking at getting a tune done in Perth/Western Australia. Is there a garage that someone could recommend, or should I be looking at an nGauge from the States?

Thanks

Ngauge mate. I just put a Lund tune on mine a few days ago, and i'm stock performance mods wise. It's a noticable difference. I believe with the auto's they sharpen the shifts a bit too which is great for you guys

Thanks Hornet. Where did you order yours from? Did you get the flexi tune as well?

Cheers

I bought the ngauge second hand then ordered the tune from Lund directly. Otherwise i would have ordered both from Lund tbh.

I didn't do flexitune as i haven't looked at who as E85 near me and i'm ignorant as to whether i need to make any other changes to the car i.e. injectors, fuel lines etc as i know nothing about E85 lol.

My recommendation would be to order Ngauge and Tune from Lund initially then after you've got the unit order the Flexi tune from them and they'll just email it to you with instructions. This saves you being exposed to GST/duties (or too much bc i cant remember threshold now). They also give you 3 months from tune date to do any revisions so by ordering flexi tune say after the first 3 months you essentially can push your revision time out to 6months which might be good with the auto since they can fiddle with that a bit until you get it just right

Thanks. Good idea on the 3+3 with the revisions.
I might get the ngauge locally from Americaspeed due to the current exchange rate, and then order the tune from Lund.

Just be careful as i believe that's the HP Tuners Ngauge not the Lund Ngauge. Same units but different software or something iirc. I have a feeling you may be able to use the HP Tuners one but it'll require a firmware upgrade that Lund will send you which is not reversible so it'll become a Lund Ngauge permanently

Actually i just found a thread on it - https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/how-to-unlock-lund-nguage.50417/

So you're good to go by the sounds and get it from AmericanSpeed then to get a Lund tune put on it, and just treat it as permanently being locked to Lund thereafter (which really isn't an issue imo since their tunes are always talked of highly)

You don’t need to make ANY changes to your vehicle to be able to run e85. The benefits are 100% worth it. If you want more power, e85 is a pretty cheap and effective way of getting there.

@msweet
Can you please make comment re: tuning 18-19 vehicles with Lund and PBD?

I've got a PBD tune with ngauge from Americanspeed or @Vogtland Mustang as Fred is known on here. Absolutely would recommend, the car is an animal on E85.

With a JLT intake, x pipe and some sticky tyres my car has gone 11.51 at 123.10mph down the strip. Will be aiming for 10s once I've sorted the headers and axle.

Thanks for confirming mate, i knew you'd come and clarify :)

I actually emailed lund last night and asked for an opinion re CAI and they basically flat out said don't waste your time unless changing the manifold + injectors, just go E85 as it's heaps better. Or E85 + manifold + injectors for MORE POWER.

It's interesting bc i've seen osme people selling injectors on facebook and saying 'theyre wgatever spec blah blah which is needed for E85' but i vaguely remembered you stating it's not needed. Maybe it's for the 18+ you need to change injectors??

You need to change injectors on 15-17 if changing manifold. No need on a 18-19 for NA upgrades

As @msweet said, the 15-17 doesn’t need them unless swapping the inlet manifold AND using e85 (Eg, you can do one OR the other on the stock injectors but not both)
The 18-19 has the benefit of direct injection, meaning the fuel system and injectors are far more capable. Ergo, the 18-19 cars can get away with some pretty radical stuff before they need to move forward in terms of injectors.
Honestly, I was pretty happy with the way my car went after doing headers and Lund e85 tune (picked up 10mph on the 1/4 which is a LOT!)
Flex is good but the dedicated e85 tune is where it’s at. Far too much fun for the cost.

Interesting thanks for the info. I'll never go straight E85 but i'll entertain the thought of Flex tune.

My plans next are Full exhaust and an update to the tune by lund as well as uprated Oil Pump Gears so i can spin higher without any worries bc i like to...

After that i'd probably go 18-19 manifold, intake and Flex tune if i felt i wanted more. Likely forgo the Flex in favour of just revising the regular tune,

Agreed 100% on the OPG/CS. Plenty will say that failures are rare, and they’re right.
Thing is, it’s a cheap upgrade and you’re the one left looking like a complete dickhead if they DO happen to fail after you’ve been told 1000 times that it was a good idea to replace them.... that and the repair bill of course...:headbang:
