Hello everyone,

First of all I would like to thank the tuners for always being there and responding everyones questions. Basically this thread goes directed towards the tuners in the forum and those who build parts for the Ecoboost to guide us through with more information...

I see so much potential in this engine and find it amazing on what its capable of doing and yet being so efficient in the process. My question is the following: Which of you tuners out there are working on a bolt on kit and tune setup for the Mustang Ecoboost?

I live in The Republic of Panama, Central America. We get the 2015 Mustangs down here in December and I'm planning on getting one and starting a project of my own. As far as Gasoline quality goes... We use 93 Oct… which is equivalent to 90 Oct in the U.S. and 95 Oct down here, which would be equivalent to 93 Oct in the U.S.… I would be using 95 Oct off course.

I'm interested in having a 400hp+ crank and 400+ tq reliable/efficient daily driver, as I'm sure so many of us would love to have. Not planning on upgrading turbos yet either. I would be interested in buying a power pack or performance kit that once installed on the car, it gives me those results I'm looking for, or better. The posibility of reaching those results with a single purchase. Such as you find handling kits to improve cornering and overall handling, how about a Tuner's performance package to increase power, enhance acceleration, better MPG and shift times for both AT/MT.

In any case, what would the kit have to contain to reach these numbers? Would it be possible with the Ecoboost? Ideas of cost? Availability information?

Thank you guys in advanced for the response.

Pictured are our Stage 3 Packages for our other EcoBoost vehicles. We will definitely have something similar for the Mustang! Check out our website for more details on the Fiesta ST and the Focus ST to get a better idea of the products we'll have for the Mustang. The 400TQ goal is already achieved with only a tune and no other modifications! As R&D continues, we'll learn exactly what parts would make the optimal upgrade path and power gains and see if 400whp is do-able. Pricing info is a ways off as the actual cost to produce the parts is still TBD.

Thank you very much for the response Kyle! Looking forward towards that bolt on kit for the Ecoboost and the gains on overall performance it will deliver. Looks like an amazing kit you got there!

Would love a bit more in depth info towards my questions for the ecoboost engine. If the power gains goal are achievable with the bolt on kit and tune, would it be reliable and safe? No need to change anything with in the engine itself? Most likely as time progresses those answers will come.

Anytime! I wish I could say for certain on the power gains. Eventually, we'll know for sure what kind of power these bolt-ons will deliver. The engine itself should be capable of 400/400 without having to upgrade anything internally. Rest assured that everything with the COBB name will be thoroughly tested with reliability as the priority before upgrades are released.

Now that is really good news, thank you very much. Cant wait to see what the potential limits are on a car like this one and who reaches the limits with best reliability and efficiency.

Hey Kyle,

What are the chances you guys could develop and offer a closed Air intake system with the power package? Such as the one Airaid created? Love how it looks under the hood and the way it blocks heat and protects the engine from heatsoak. Would the kit have a Short ram air intake? Or is it a full length cold air intake system? If it's an actual cold air intake system, what would you guys develop to avoid water from being sucked up into the engine as well? It rains alot here in Panama, which is why I ask.

Regards!

The box will be closed. The intakes shown above utilize components from the factory boxes to prevent sucking in hot air from the engine bay. We haven't tested for any water just yet. But, as long as you're not crossing any rivers, there shouldn't be an issue with water ingestion. :)

Oh ok, it re-uses the OEM air box, but with a larger intake tube for more/better air flow. Understood. If thats the case, there should be no environmental issues, other than what a stock box would run into on a daily basis. Wouldnt run into a river or lake. But we do get floods every now and then. just wanted to be sure how the system worked. Thanks Kyle.

So, no other tuners, other than the guys at Cobb, have plans of developing a performance or power pack for the Ecoboost? A single purchase and a quick bolt on kit plus tune for 400hp+ / 400ft/lbs+ crank?

Kyle just curious

If the Ecoboost in question is a performance package with the upgraded intercooler will the intercooler in your stage 3 package still flow more?

I am unsure of the flow rate of the Ford performance package intercooler for the Ecoboost, do you guys know any stats on that?

the performance pack has the same intercooler as the non performance pack. It comes with a larger radiator for better cooling.
