STICKY THREAD MAYBE?
Hey guys. As the title implies, I'd like to start a thread that hopefully can clear the air on some confusion I have about tuners and perhaps catch up others who, like myself, haven't tuned their ecos yet. All brands are welcome to participate - the more the merrier (and more knowledgeable)!
I'll try to lay out a decent frame for the questions. **First I'll clarify the difference between transmission modes on the shifter and driving modes on the tab by referring to the first as NT/ST (Normal/Sport Transmission) and the others as NDM/SDM/S+DM (Normal/Sport/Sport+ Driving Mode).
-----
1. Are you driving a premium with selectable driving modes or baseline eco?
2. Which brand of tuner did you get?
2a. Was your car stock or modded when you tuned it?
2b. Did you order a custom tune because of mods? Detail.
3. When you flashed it, can you specify how it affected each transmission mode - NT/ST?
Premium Only 4. Can you detail how it affected each combination of transmission mode and driving mode?
Example 4a. The car starts in NT/NDM. Did this combination get re-calibrated or did it stay stock? What about NT in any other mode?
Example 4b. If it only changed the car's behavior in ST, what happened to S+DM or Track? Normally, slamming it into ST will default the drive mode to SDM. Does S+DM boost it even further?
5. When getting it custom tuned, did you get a choice on "where" the tune is applied - NT vs ST?
-----
Feel free to add any extra questions/answers to this thread. I'd like to see tons of information on this in one spot because I swear I only see instructions for hooking up and installing each tuner but zero information on what it does to the transmission modes and driving modes (on premium). And that makes me hesitant because it's $500-600+ for tuner/custom tunes and not thoroughly explained.
Thanks in advance! I'll be checking back frequently.
