To check what fuel its tuned for, look at your air fuel ratio on the dash menus, if its 14+ or so its 93, if its 9.8 its e85. I would be pretty sure its on 93
Thank you Andy, I will take a closer inspection once I am free from the 9 to 5 ;)

EFI,

Definitely agree with your reasoning - there is not a GM on earth who is going to be that gracious! When these cars are tuned is the time stamp visible once the tune has been removed? LOL, yes the warranty will be out the window as soon as the Whipple rolls on!
Yes, there's been many threads about this. And there's been bulletins posted by Ford to be on the lookout for such.

So if you have a tune on the car, it's pretty much guaranteed that you will have warranty claims on the powertrain denied unless it's something very minor. But most major claims will trigger an investigation and the first thing they will look at (and find in your case) is the history of a tune.

If I were you, I'd cancel the extended warranty and get a pro-rated refund. The parts of that warranty that are still intact are far too little for the value you paid for it.

Hello everyone,

Since I am new to the S550 community and I have recently begun my journey in to the modification world I thought I would pose a quick question that I cannot seem to locate much supporting information.

I recently purchased a pre-owned 2018 Mustang GT PP1 from a local dealer which had Stainless Power long tubes, High Flow Cats and a JLT Performance CIA already installed by the previous owner. My question is directly related to tuning - how am I able to verify if the previous owner installed a tune? And if so which tune was installed?

I than you all in advance for your input and I look forward to learning :)
Theres no way to tell from the PCM to the best of my knowledge but if you are scared you could buy a tuner and a tune flash it back to stock then flash the new tune on and datalog and send it to the tuner for corrections.

That way u know for sure what u got.

But more than likely the cars fine there's like 4 mustang tuners everyone uses

One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is that you will probably want to get your hands on the factory tune. Most tuners ask for that as a baseline for the custom tune they write. Also most of the time in between tune revisions or for troubleshooting it is common place to reinstall the factory tune.

Also, from what I’ve read there isn’t a “tune log” in the cars PCM, I believe all they can see is a count on how many times the car has been started since the current tune was installed. Not fully sure on this though.

I believe tuners like the SCT have the factory base map hard coded in them. Its why if you get an error or lose connection the SCT is designed to return your car to stock and not brick your pcm.

You can call SCT to verify this I think the ngauge does the same.

A cheaper alternative maybe to just datalog and send it to Lund just for them to review it and make sure all is good, they may charge you a few bucks but you'll have piece of mind.

EFI, man that is crummy - I would have thought with all the advancement in technology someone would have discovered a way to eliminate the time stamp history! But on the flip slip of the coin I understand the logic of the OEM and the shear amount of cost(s) they would incur if they did not play fire with fire. On a positive note it has been less than 30days since I purchased the ride so as per Ford's website I am entitled to a full refund on the extended warranty!

3star, definitely not scared just curious to know what the previous owner installed. Nevertheless I will be moving forward with additional mods so the current tune will be obsolete within a matter of time.

Bartly, appreciate the advice for sure!

Ask your tuner which they prefer.

The big 3 (Lund, vmp, pbd,....) write in both. Some say the ngauge is more stable.
