Hey what's up guys. I ordered my tune finally installed it. But I am a lil disappointed. I raced my friends 15 auto. He has airaid intake and muffler delete NOT tuned. I have airaid intake corsa extreme and a tune. We raced 3 times and on 3rd gear he catches up and passes me. We did a dig race I jump on him and after I shift into 3rd his vtec kicks in or something and he pulls away. We also did a 40mph roll twice and same thing he passes me when I'm on third. Any inputs?

In all seriousness...is the auto 3.15 or 3.55 geared?

The auto cars are geared fairly aggressively, even with the 3.15's...

My recommendations are...

1: Go to a real dragstrip and get quantifiable results that we can work with. Highway pulls are dangerous and we don't have numbers to examine.."catches up and passes by 3rd gear" isn't really anything useful.

2: Double check your shifting, how long you're hanging with the clutch in, etc...the autos, even untuned, shift faster than you do.

I honestly don't know what gears he has. I'll ask. I got 3.73s. My pirellis are done. Next track day will be in feb I think. I'll be going to the track to see what it does.

What tune are you running? What rpm are you shifting at?

I got a Lund tune. First 2 races shifted at 7k. Third race at 7200 7300rpm.
Try shifting at 6,600 or 6,700...with the stock intake manifold you're running out of breath by 7,000, and absolutely at 7,200+

The heads are good for over 7,000, but not the intake manifold..note: manifold, not intake tube, I know that's not stock.

^^^^^ This
That's why I asked. Really all you have is a Tune and a catback. That Airaid is = to your stocker. Auto's will usually always be a bit faster, the tune should somewhat equalize that. Its a drivers race at this point and you are over revving it out of the power band so he catches up.

It all depends on how fast you are shifting! Even stock vs stock the manual with 3.73 gears put down more hp and torque than the auto's. Plus you are tuned so my guess is you have some where around 30 whp over the auto!

What you can do is, a roll race without shifting, for example a 3rd gear pull from 30 to 85 mph and see what happens!

Have you data logged your tune to ensure things are spot on?

You mentioned your tires are shot. That would lead me to believe you are spinning your tires a ton. I know I spun my rears when then tread was about done and that was a stock GTPP.

Your races went the exact opposite of how I'd figure they'd go down. You should be pulling the auto at higher speeds IMO.

How's your clutch?

Exactly!! By the end of 3rd thru 4th gear the 6M is pulling the autos. Lots of videos out there showing this.

These cars are just f#%king weird. I race a buddy of mine at Atco. We have the exact mods, gears, transmission etc. and for some reason he'll pull about half a car from the 1/8 to the 1/4.

Manual shifting skill?
I kind of doubt that's the problem. Really not much skill to shifting a manual quickly. Even stock, he should be pulling the auto car slightly on the top end.

You're correct there's no need for flame suit. The OP's car still should have kept pulling the auto, especially after out launching it.
