Sorry for the link-bait title but it's relevant.

First off, I know that a tune is an order of magnitude bigger than the sport button. I would never confuse the two.

My main question is: what will the sport button do once I've been tuned? Will it essentially become meaningless?

Has anyone reverse engineered the engine management to actually find out all the individual things that putting the car into sport mode achieves? Obviously the throttle is a little more responsive but what else? Timing? A/F? Does it modify traction or stability settings?

I have a 6MT PP GT, if it helps.

I have a Livernois tune and the sport mode works the same as when stock. It increases throttle response and modifies the shift points (among other things). I'm easy on the gas from a dead stop (initially) and don't find it overly sensitive at all. Your foot may feel differently lol.

Sport mode affects throttle response, traction control, stability control and if you have an auto, shifting. None of the modes affect the engine in anyway.

At WOT there should be no difference in any of the modes. Except for the fact that traction control may affect you more in some modes vs. others.

I have no scientific proven answer but I feel the same way.

The throttle response is 100% more responsive in Sport Mode vs. Normal.

It definitely is more responsive at partial throttle, but WOT is WOT. I'm not sure if it is the case, but I guess sport might get you to WOT a bit faster than normal. However, once you are WOT, you are WOT.

I'm not driving my car today, but I believe Track Mode turns off traction control unlike Sport Mode?

The throttle response is the same in both and I usually just put the car on Track Mode every time I drive since I take it out on nice days only (normally).

Taken from another thread on a similar topic here, but since the OP was wanting to know the difference on a tuned car, would putting the car into sport mode enhance the tune, or would changing the car to sport mode override the settings in the tune like throttle response?

My responses have been related to a tuned car since I have a dyno tune.

In my automatic ecoboost sport mode hangs on to the rpms longer between gear shifts and thus gives one the illusion of sporty driving though no hp or torque has been gained.

In a tuned car (with actual more hp and torque because of the tune) I would think that sport mode would still do the same thing.

Now if the tune also manages some of the same things that sport mode all ready does than yes shifting into sport mode on a tuned car could be redundant.

Depends on your tune. I had the SCT canned tune and sport, sport+, and track were pretty much unusable. Worked good in D though. Just recently added a Lund tune and it is awesome in drive and even better in the sport and track modes. Shifts great and is very responsive in sport and track modes and wont give you whiplash on the downshifts like SCT tunes. Power is so much better than the SCT tune.

Just as an FYI to everyone, Our Mycalibrator tuner will add enhanced performance in all modes..The tunes will work with any changes that sport mode [or any other mode] makes, the tune is integrated on-top of that. So in the event that you do have a Livernois tune, the stock drive setting will be enhanced, the sport modes will then take the factory settings and pile the Livernois tune on-top of that for further enhancements.

We have formatted our tunes to work with the sport or other type settings while still utilizing the added performance from the Mycalibrator tuner. If anyone one has any other questions related to this contact us and we'd be glad to help!
