Tune or gears?

Just looking for some opinions about the choice of the two. Either I change the 3.15 gears, or go to a tune for my 3.7. Gears, 3.55 or 3.73s, will increase my performance without causing the warranty issues that a tune will. A tune on the other hand will improve my horsepower but is a hassle when getting service or warranty work. I've had both in prior Mustangs with 3.7 engines and the gears felt like much more of an improvement than any tune I've ever had. Had a tune in my 2011 and it felt fantastic but the improvement was mainly due to the really delayed first to second shift, an issue which seems to be mostly cured with the sport mode. My real question is, I guess, in an eighth mile what will get me there quickest?

Gears.

You can improve torque with them by 5%, 10%, or 15% depending on which diff you choose. But your speedo/odo will be off by the same amount.

I have 9 years of driving experience with a VQ v6 6M Frontier with similar gearing to having 3.55 on a Mustang. For a truck that gets loaded it’s great having a low 1st gear. My Mustang is a 6M and at first thought was to swap out the 3.15 as it is hard to use 6th gear in hilly areas. As time has gone on I like the fact of being able to hold 1st gear longer to deal with the amount of stop and traffic in my area.

About the odometer, will it show more or less miles than actually driven. I had some tires on the car that were two inches shorter than stock and the odometer read .9 tenths of a mile for every mile driven by GPS. The only thing that has stopped me from getting gears before now is because if you have 3.15s you have to buy a carrier also. If you have any other gear your OK, so why just me/us!! But also like DANA44 said the trans gear ratio in first and second makes gears less effective below 50 MPH. Like those yellow stripes man!!
