That's the price for MOST turbo cars honestly. The reason the GTX turbo is so cheap for the ST's is because ATP offers it as a stock location set up. So there's not really anything added. For the EBM it's not like that. The Vargas Stage 2 is the only stock location upgrade there is.
I completely get that but extra $2250 for piping? I mean it might be a good deal to some but we need more turbo upgrade options thats all im saying.

There is a $2,000 turbo option already available. If you want $2k buy the Vargas, if you want $3500 maybe Lethal still has a kit left. The EBM is getting a huge following, give it time. I bet by this time next year the options/choices we have will double. Heck Cavalli's turbo will be out next month and it's a stock location twin scroll tripple ball bearing setup for $2k

I don't care what anyone think. $4250 for a GTX2867r is expensive. Now I'm in no way trying to question or bash MAP/Adam project. Im sure the work and craftsmanship behind MAP items are top notch but I just don't see myself paying $4250 for a turbo upgrade on a already factory boosted car. If $4250 is cheap than the same turbo kit for the ST for undef $2k must be heaven sent steal.
You do realise the 2k ST turbo is a stock replacement. Stainless steel tig welded mandrel tubing and cast doesn't grow on trees. Shit is expensive and each kit is hand built.

Agp typical upgraded DBB 50 trim turbo kit for srt4 that make GREAT power are 2500 COMPLETE.... So no stainless steel tig wilded mandrel tubing doesn't grow on trees. But $4500-5k for an upgraded turbo kit that is maxing out around 440rwhp is ALOT. Not saying it isn't a great kit but for that price it should be one of the last kits you ever have to buy power wise, which its not.

ATP Turbo Price $ 1381.24

Turbine housing $ $259.00

Wastegate $ 325.00

Hot Side charge Pipe Value $ 350

Downpipe Value $ 600

BOV $325

Intake Value $ 350

Turbo Adapter Value $ 625

Misc Lines Fittings $500

$ 4365.59

I just did this for fun, while drinking my coffee. I dont think this kit price is out of line with the parts you get. I would not buy it, no reason to, not with the bolt on Turbos that we will soon be getting and have now. But the price is at fair market value in my opinion.

Also a new manifold as well since it's not a stock location set up. The Vargas Stage 2 is the only stock location replacement available and it's 2600 bucks options out how I need for it to work. And I still then need a downpipe so add another 400-500 bucks so that's 3 grand. The Tune + kit already comes with a downpipe and charge pipes for another 1200 bucks, plus a more efficient turbo with better spool characteristics. I'll pay the extra 1200 personally.

I get what he's saying and I agree to an extent. I had a turbo on my 01 cobra with a terminator swap and that turbo dwarfs the turbos that work on these cars and I bought it brand new for 1100.00 bucks. (Just the turbo ) gt4202r .

If that is expensive then a quality kit is not for you. Just as PerfWeld broke down above you aren't just paying for a turbo here, it requires all new pieces in order for it to fit.

External Wasetgate could be changed out and will be in the future if testing goes smooth but External wastegate will always be the best way to control boost.

So, here is the break down. You tell me where you can cut some corners to make the kit cheaper. We will start and getting the turbo on the car, then from intake to exhaust.

  • Manifold - this isn't just two flanges with some pipe in between it has be be provisioned for a external wastegate flange. It also features a 3D contoured flange on the head side, not just an outline of the flange. It's properly designed.
  • Hardware for manifold
  • 3.5" Stainless Steel (304SS) Intake
  • CNC Machined bung for intake sensor (not an off the shelf bung)
  • CNC Machined bung for valve cover vent (not an off the shelf bung)
  • 9" K&N Filter
  • 3.5" 90° Coupler for intake
  • x 2 3.5" Clamps for intake coupler
  • Stainless 4-bolt Flange
  • 3" Mandrel bent 304SS Downpipe
  • O2 Sensor bung - Primary
  • J-style O2 Sensor bung - Secondary
  • V-band flanges
  • V-band Clamp
  • Conical Reducer - If being connected to factory style catback
  • Garrett GTX2867R Turbocharger
  • ATP Turbine Housing (Not included with turbocharger)
  • Oil Feed Line Restrictor Fitting
  • CNC Machined -10an Oil Drain Flange
  • CNC Machined -10an Oil Drain Flange - Block Side
  • 2 x -10 AN Fittings
  • -10 Hose
  • -4an Feed Line
  • -4an to Metric Oil Feed line adapter banjo and bolt - block side
  • x 2 3/8 Barbed Stainless Coolant Adapter fittings - Turbo
  • 3/8 Coolant Hose
  • x 1 3/8 Barbed Stainless Coolant Adapter fitting - Block
  • 2" to 2.5" 90° coupler (Turbo)
  • 1 x 2" T-bolt Clamp
  • 3 x 2.5" T-bolt Clamp
  • 2.5" Hump Coupler (Intercooler)
  • 2.5" Mandrel Bent Stainless Steel Hot Side Charge Pipe
  • Turbosmart Stainless Steel BOV Flange
  • Turbosmart SmartPort BOV
  • Vacuum Hose
  • Vacuum Tee
  • Now that you have all the materials you have to factor in the following:
  • R&D for both fabrication and machining
  • R&D for tuning and testing
  • Fabrication Labor Hours
  • Fabrication shop supplies (Argon, Helium, Filler Rod, Cut Off Wheels, Grinding Wheels, Sanding and Grinding Disc 3", Flat Sanding Disk 14", Flat Sanding Belts, Hole Saws, Abrasive pads , and cleaning solution for the final product)
  • Packaging, and shipping.

All this compared to a off the shelf GTX turbo, a chinese casted adapter, and a poorly welded downpipe adapter that you would get for an ST.

If you want to compare Focus ST Turbo Upgrade prices to the GTX upgrade kit for the Mustang. You might want to look at the same style of kit. The kit below doesn't even include an intake, just a silicone adapter to hook up to your stock intake.

Just out of curiosity and not trying to start a flame war.... But why are QUALITY kits for other 4 bangers about 1500-2k cheaper?

Apparently if you want a quality for a good price just don't buy an ecoboost..... Or like others have stated just wait because I guarantee prices will eventually fall to the 2-3500 range in the next year or so.

The only cheap kit you listed is the one for the Neon...from ci. The full race kit for the Subie is 5k with the turbo and the MAP kit for the Evo 8 and 9 is almost 4k with the smallest turbo option....From all the ecoboost turbo kits out right now the manifold, downpipe, intake, charge pipes and everything else that comes with them not including the turbo is somewhere around 3k..It ALL depends on what turbo you want to go with.
