I mainly want to see the car in stock form be faster than the competition rather than making a big number and being slow. I don't care how Ford does it.

I voted TT V6+AWD because there is not a TT V8+AWD option.

Supercharged doesn't fit Ford's product direction/new performance philosophy.

I chose AWD twin turbo v8. Because that's the better sounding more powerful option with better traction. I don't settle for skewed polls.

If you can make an AWD 6, then you can make an AWD 8.

Ford is moving to turbo. It's the future. And the present.

AWD is an advancement. I don't think it belongs on all mustangs. But a gt500 with AWD (and performance auto) would shut the gtr crowd up in a hurry.

If it absolutely HAD TO BE EITHER/OR?

Rwd TT v8.

But AWD ttv8 with a fast shifting auto makes the most sense.

Saw that slag old in the waiting room visiting a relative at the hospital. Awesome.

Cannot begin to imagine the administrative effort in coordinating the police in blocking off the roads, the amount of practice drives, the cameras, and the post production.
Managing video. The kind that leaves entire fast me furious movies in the dust.

Wow.

The TR9007 7 speed in the 2017 Ford GT is certified to 664tq@5150lbs GVWR. While that doesn't see like a lot of info, think about this...

An OHC configuration usually produces less peak torque than HP on the band. So, there is typically a 30-50hp, in the FPC case there is more and FI engines seem to tighten the gap.

What thePill is trying to say is, the TR9007 was made for a vehicle that produces 664tq with around 700-ish HP (new rumor of 700+) AND, the vehicle tested WAS 5100-5200lbs OR, about 4000lbs in curb weight.

This may be an indicator that the GT500 uses a TT3.5 but, it could just mean the FGT is 700+hp and 664tq.

You will also see the TR9007 is AWD capable ;)

I still think there is a mammoth, jaw dropping TTV8 that will be used to end all HP output arguements. Ford won't let the Hellcat keep that title... however, it might be a TT3.5 that does it.

I feel a Mustang should stay RWD. But imagine that launch with AWD...

It's like the V8 vs V6 or Manual vs Auto argument. Everyone has an opinion. Although the difference here is that there's never been a production Mustang with AWD that I'm aware of.

I just like the idea of burnouts and power slides w/ rwd.

I think we have to look at the evolution of cars. We can't be stubborn on making sure it's RWD only and forever. What "if" the zl1 came out AWD? What we want our beloved mustang to be able to compete with? To me AWD is just a technology advancementto improve performance. Just as one would add EFI, or direct injection, or disc brakes... all in the sake of improving the car. AWD would improve the cars performance. I say go for it! Anything to make the car better is good in my opinion.

I agree.
Awd being better is subjective not factual.
True. Viperblue was saying that if it's faster it's better. Many would agree; some would not.

Bottom Line the GT500 don't need to be AWD
Also true. I really want to see Ford innovate and do something that the competition hasn't done. I want this car to surprise people and possibly even change how some view high performance. AWD has the potential to be just such a game changer. Possibly there are other, more subtle things that could be done that will improve the car's performance as much....

But you are correct that Ford doesn't need to do anything innovative or game changing. People will buy the GT500 just based on some styling and a high HP number, even if all the HP does is spin the tires.

Yeah -- how many people would like to see a manual step transmission in a hybrid AWD -- Mustang or not? Certainly progressive and innovative-- gas to the rear, electric up front... For me, I think if it was done right, I'd be more than okay with it -- if it's done wrong... not so much. This is a super controversial thing -- most would say stupid for a muscle car -- but Mustang has come a lot further than the Challenger.

Where would be a situation where AWD is not better then RWD? Same car, same motor, same weight. (AWD would probably add some weight given that)

Speed, corning, etc.

The GTR is a great example of how AWD performance can definitely make up for the weight difference. On road course, drag strip, and street.

Not trying to start a war. Just curious on where the RWD would be better then AWD. (sincerely, not joking or trolling)
