Hello!

I have a 2019 Mustang GT PP1 with 10R80. I don't like the way transmission works so I want to replace it. I found a used one for sale from ecoboost but I don't know if 5.0 and 2.3 10R80s are identical. Has anyone done swap like this before?

What about it don't you like? There's other things you can do to improve it besides swapping it out completely.

Also swapping it out with another similar 10R80 isn't going to change anything unless you address the issues at hand.

Thanks for the reply!

It is very jerky. It jerks terribly when shifting from N, P to R, D. It jerks during downshifts when slowing down, it sometimes slips in 3rd gear and is very rough when shifting into 3rd and 5th especially when driving fast.

The problem is definitely in transmission, and I found another one in good condition for cheap. Also Ford in my country doesn't fix it, they can only order a new one which is very expensive and takes 1-1.5 months to arrive. If the 2.3 10R80 fits I'm probably going with that one but first I have to find out.

Is there no one where you live that can tune the transmission for smoother shifting?

I did tune the engine couple years back and they tried to tune the tansmission as well but couldn't get in. It's probably different now but I think the damage is now mechanical. Also when I first checked the oil at around 15-20k km, 1.5 liters were missing. I looked it up and a batch of mustangs came like that from factory. Not sure if that's the case with mine. I added motorcraft oil with which it comes from factory but it didn't make any difference. There's a chance it made it worse but I don't recall. In any case I'm almost certain the damage is mechanical and I just want to know if ecoboost trans fits because it is on sale for 1k compared to 8k for new from dealership. Even clutch kits are more expensive than that so that's my only question.
