Transmission rebuild...

I daily a 2018 mustang gt premium with pp1 and the 10speed.

So I was driving with some friends to take pics of all our cars. I drove in my mustang gt to my friends house and everything was perfectly fine. When we were leaving to take pictures however problems insued. A yellow/orange wrench light came on with text under the warning reading “check manual” (which is bullshit cuz I looked and found nothing) When I would try to give the car some gas I would go for like 10 ft then the car would automatically break it self to a hault or dam near close. I knew I couldn’t drive that on the road so I left it over night at my other buddies house. Towed it to ford dealer in the am and turns out the scan gave back a code for the trans. They tell me they want to rebuild it and take pictures to send to ford for instructions. They said it will be about 1-2 weeks. I’m under 21 so I couldn’t even legally get a rental car so I’m basically ubering everywhere. Not a goodlook

Also I already took it to ford for a little oil pan leak a month ago and the guy told me that the engine had been replaced already which I didn’t really think to much about it but now that the trans is also getting rebuilt that’s two bad issues in not that long of time. I didn’t own it when the engine got rebuilt I bought it used after the fact (Dealer didn’t include that part).

has anyone else had anything issues with the transmission like this or is this isolated to just me?

Did the “guy” give any factual info as to how he knows the engine was replaced? Was this a Ford Dealer Tech?

While it’s at the Ford Dealer, tell them you want the complete OASIS report on the VIN. That will show any past warranty repairs, maintenance visits etc. it will also show if there’s any outstanding recalls and a lot of other info.

I would also call the Ford 800# and get a local CSR to open a case on the car. This will bump the priority level of the repair and the CSR has to follow up with the Dealership to make sure all repairs are being completed in a timely manner.

I would also ask the CSR if they can comp you a Loaner - but regardless of your age, see what they will say being you’re a Ford Customer and their product left your stranded.

As for the 10R80 - it’s a stout trans and can take a bearing. Depending on your build date, it could be an early 10R80 which was affected by some very minor problems, with the most severe being a bad one way clutch pack (Ford SSM 47361). See this thread for all of the current 10R80 Ford TSB/SSMs:

I’m not sure the of guys job title but he worked at ford and was pulling stuff up on the computer. He gave my the vehicle option list and told me that it had a new engine dropped in it around July if I’m not mistaken. Ford is paying for my rental car cuz they stoped using loaner cars. Which means I can’t get a rental car which sucks no just hope that they fix it correctly and dont cause other problems. Ive seen utube videos were the uploader get their car back after ford “fixs” the problem and they get some other problem or their problem persists. I guess its a good thing my car cant drive because they have to fix that they cant give me “we don’t know what’s wrong everything reads fine”

Ok - sounds like he was in OASIS and saw the warranty replaced engine.
