Hey all,

First post on here, i hope its in the right place. I had a problem with my 2015 mustang V6 Manual transmission the other day. I was driving on the highway approximately 130 km/h. I dropped it from sixth into fifth gear in order to pass someone, and when i put it into fifth, i had no power. It was like i was in neutral. I put the car back into neutral and tried fifth again and still no power. I'm 100% sure i had the clutch pushed in all the way and that the car was in fifth. After i pulled over, i put the car into first and it'll go in fine, but it'll only move 3-5 feet before stopping and i cant move anymore and there was a burning smell. Any thoughts on what this could be? I was told it could be a transmission problem and the dealer is already trying to blame it on me.

Thanks

Clutch. Seems there is a rash of bad clutches on these cars, or drivers that won't admit to not knowing how to drive a manual. Good Luck with the warranty. I think I have read of one person here that got a new clutch under warranty.
Not dogging mine, but waiting on this too. Ready to order a McLeod RST when it happens.

Sounds like your clutch exploded.

What mileage and what rear axle ratio?

Maybe half shafts? I had sane symptoms when my half shaft broke
Looking at your mods, I can see why you broke one! :hail: I doubt if OP's V6 will do the same damage.

Let's see, if my math is correct, that's a downshift to 5th at about 80 mph.

...which isn't extreme, would not redline or otherwise damage anything.
I bet it would damage the clutch. Ask OP :D

In all seriousness, I would love to see someone (independent 3rd party) analyze all these clutches that are flying apart.

It would depend a lot on the rear ratio. Accelerating to 80 in 5th may not be extreme. Whipping it into 5th at 80 and dumping the clutch might be.

80mph into 5th shouldnt be an issue at all. Now 80mph into 3rd will be a bit tricky if no rev matching is used.

Hey everyone, just heard back from the dealer and they said it was the flywheel. Defective part so they're covering it under warranty.
