Okay I have the thud which doesn't really bother me. What really bothers me is the grind or scratch I get in 2nd and 3rd. I also have a marble like sound when in lower gears going slow (parking lot speeds). I'm at 2200 miles and ready to just have the dealer look at. Some say they have success with changing the trans fluid but some don't.

Don't change the fluid if you plan to take it to the dealer. If they find something wrong they will blame the foreign fluid and possibly void warranty.

Sounds like normal things. Mine does the hollow grind/marble thing at very low vehicle AND engine speeds (<1200 rpm) when in too tall a gear, like in 3rd in a parking lot, for instance.

The trans definitely gets smoother as you put miles on it. I noticed a big change near 5000 miles or so. Also, you will have much smoother shifts if you don't force it into gear. When it's warmed up, you should be able to put light pressure on the shifter, feel the synchros work and then it'll slot in nicely.

Hello Hinds90,

I recommend you bring it in to your Ford Dealer and get it fully diagnosed. Be sure to speak with your service manager about this concern, as he is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis.

Also, please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number. I’ll loop in the customer service manager for your area.

I never really have issues forcing it in gear but I've had the grind or scratch in 2nd and 3rd gear (mainly 3rd even sometimes when fully warm) since it had 6 miles on it. Should have taken it to the dealer sooner.

I'm not new to manual cars. If it's scratching or grinding now at some point something will fail.

Ford service pm sent.

Be interested to know how you get on, funny thing is the more I research this the more i'm kinda thinking the sounds are just part of the car and most make some sort of noise.
