We should be some of the first. Cotus is just weird it gives us this message and only the dealer is allowed to track it.

....that means there is hope!

The only thing I've seen was the dealer tracking which had Ford Confidential smacked all over it. Which shows me my production week and vin.

Not sure about that but the message I kept getting is the exact same message you posted so maybe there is hope :)

Has anyone other than me with a retail order get cotus to work? I'm wondering how long now till I get a vin and build date?

Hopefully soon for you. Call your dealer Tomorrow afternoon. They seem to issue VINs on Thursdays.

Hate to rain on your parade Jmeo, but the vehicle showing up on cotus.ford.com doesn't necessarily mean a VIN assignment is immenient. My order is also a retail order (not dealer stock), but I've been able to see it on cotus since the end of May. I ordered a few days after the order banks opened on 05/20 and I have no VIN.

But I don't think anyone who is a normal retail order has gotten VIN assignments/production dates. The people who do have VINs are ones that got slotted into dealer stock or the LE guys like Brent302. I think Five Oh Brian explained that Ford won't schedule retail orders until after the OKTB date. Which is supposed to be August or September (don't remember what the last rumored OKTB date is).

Also the chatter on the main production / ordering schedule thread seems to imply there are Ford bulletins saying they are not scheduling anymore Mustangs for production until August or September. I'm just hopeful this just means Ford is done scheduling the first batch of dealer allocation units and are waiting for the OKTB date to schedule retail orders.

But on the bright side at least you're not alone. I'll be here suffering through the wait with you. :headbonk:

The next Mustang scheduling day is 11 Sep, this is when the retail VINs should start to populate. OKTB is the 9th, which is when retail orders start. There is plenty of wine already on this subject from peeps who think it is a conspiracy and production is sliding. Nothing has changed so unless you are bringing cheese to the fest its a moot point.

No cheese or whine here. I'm excited to finally see my order that's all. I heard about the dates you've mentioned but again I'm just happy to see my order because either way you look at it, it's progress.

A couple of question for you Mustangchief, is it possible Ford could populate a vin/order date earlier than expected because they found themselves ahead of schedule?

Does it have anything to do with the dealership ordered through as far as where they stand in line to get a retail car built? Meaning when they start a retail build for said dealership?

Thanks,
Jaime

Anything is possible, but not likely

Does it have anything to do with the dealership ordered through as far as where they stand in line to get a retail car built? Meaning when they start a retail build for said dealership? If I am understanding what you are asking, you are asking if the speed at which a retail order is placed has anything to do with the stock orders they are getting? short answer is no, retail orders have more to do with what commodities are being made and the date ordered. Getting stock allocations is based on a turn and earn theory. Each dealer is only allotted so many retail orders (other wise he could make up names and order ahead of dealers who are following the rules). You can ask your dealer how many he gets, he may or may not tell you...most won't. If he gets 10 and the guy 20 miles away gets 50, where do you think you will shop. Don't judge a dealer by the size of his lot either. The dealer I deal with sells twice as many Mustangs as his other dealership 27 miles away that is twice as big
