Based on a discussion I had with my dealer when I placed my order, I got the distinct impression that customer/retail orders do not count against their allocation. He made a copy of my driver's license and told me it was so they could provide documentation to Ford, if requested, to prove that it is a legit customer order, and not just them trying to work the system and pull in additional cars above their allocation. One thing we haven't heard is if retail orders will require a dealer allocation for this model or if retail will take priority over stock when the scheduling resumes. This will affect how quickly custom orders are scheduled and could make a big difference for those ordering through smaller or low volume dealers.
For instance, my retail order was placed on 5/24 with priority 19 and only one other retail order is before mine at this dealership. They have yet to get a stock order through scheduling to date (i.e. they don't yet have a VIN for any of their orders). If retail orders require an allocation, there is no way for me to predict when my order will be scheduled.
+1 nor should the dealer be penalized if they have 10 retail orders...they would have nothing to put on their showroom if they didn't get any stock allocations so makes sense.Based on a discussion I had with my dealer when I placed my order, I got the distinct impression that customer/retail orders do not count against their allocation. To me it would make sense that a customer order would not count against allocation. A customer should not be penalized for ordering their car at a particular dealership.

^This. I will wait till a couple days after 9/11 to see if I have a VIN and build date. If not I will be doing some calling.Misery loves company. ;)
I seem to be recalling an 11,000 number being thrown around for initial scheduling of dealer stock. I have no idea how many they can schedule for a build week although I hear numbers like 300 to 600 a day built max. Of course there can be parts constraints as well. It really feels like a crapshoot.
I worry about this. My dealer is the largest in the area but compared to the big metro areas isn't THAT big. They already have a GT built waiting to be delivered. I'm hoping they still have more than one initial allocation to fit mine in. I'd hate to have to beg regional reps to schedule me in but if I have to do it I will.
Finally got the right info from my dealer, it just shows it's in order processing. But it is cool being able to track your car.How can I go check the status of my stang?
Congrats! Here it is. It finally exists!
+2+1
It would be interesting to know how many outstanding customer orders there are to this point waiting to be scheduled when the flood gates are opened.
Also, I'm guessing that just because someone ordered their car a month later than someone else, it doesn't necessarily mean they will have to wait a month longer for their car to be built. Thinking it would totally depend on how many cars they can build per day. That's my hope anyway, since I didn't get mine ordered until last weekend. Maybe the wait won't be as long as I fear (assuming there are no unexpected production delays).![]()
Mine is 2259 and began production on the 20th
My ecoboost sequence number is 1248 and it was built yesterday!I got word as of yesterday that no Ecoboost cars have been produced yet. They are on the schedule to be produced and ours has a scheduled build date of 9/15. I will keep checking back and update on anything I find out. JJ
