I'm not so sure you're going to be seeing so much in savings on the M2 vs. M3/M4. The M235i is still a 50K car with anything more than stripper options... I wouldn't be surprised if the M2 fits into the M lineup at 54-56K base and quickly gets to 'why am I not getting an M3/M4?' prices.
I bet thats exactly what people say when the M2 comes out. It won't be significantly cheaper than the M4. For people who care the question will be how much less does it weigh.

I think many comments about the driver are overly harsh.

First, it is very difficult to determine how hard he was pushing, so we can't judge his skill by his speed. We can see that in several cases he was coasting in to the braking zones, so even if he was hard in the gas in some spots, he wasn't going for an ultimate fast lap or anything like that. We can also see that he was taking a very clean line, and hitting the apexes well. Some of the other drivers were missing them by several feet. The lap in the M4 was a little disappointing because he was clearly being held up by the SUV in front. The Mustang lap was quite a bit faster, and he was able to keep up with the Vette, Viper, and M3 (probably none of them were pushing too hard).

Overall it seemed like he liked the Mustang more, even though he never quite said it outright. At the end of his Mustang lap he seemed to imply it. In any event, the car looked pretty competent at the track.

Yep, everyone is an expert. I've dragged my wife to F1 outdoors before and begged her to do an a race with me, I just wanted to have some fun and get some seat time before an Endurance Karting event. We pull in the parking lot to a sea of import car done up, sit through the safety meeting listening to all the chatter from the tuner crowd. Long story short my Wife, completely uninterested lapped several of them :) they were very quiet when we climbed out of the Karts. So yes people that do are the only ones not judging his skill.

Yeah not for nothing the Tahoe and WRX group in front seemed to pull on him a bit while in the M4.. Which isn't to say they are faster but all the M4 in front of him while driving the GT comments seem a bit moot.
