Really. If its who I'm thinking of, yes, he is the guy you want. That was his job when he was at flat rock. I still stay in touch. Had him and his folks over for a 4th of July party a few years back.
Yep...that's him.

Compared to an $82,000 car.... The track is not a poor mans sport. Anytime I have gone to the track attack, I have gotten the insurance.

Even if you drive it like a grandma, anything can happen at the track.
I always buy the HPDE insurance as well for track events. If you hit something at speed, that deductible is nothing...
At COTA last weekend, a new BMW M-2 in the Beginner Group (with an instructor!) bashed the RR and LF corners coming onto the front straight. Gonna cost some bucks to get it fixed (if it’s even fixable). Said his instructor told him he could take that last corner faster, so he tried. Didn’t work out so well...
I had a very nice blue McLaren do a tank slapper in front of me. He kept if off the wall, but just by a foot or so. He was a garage mate so I asked him what happened: Said he overcooked the previous corner and when he backed off to keep it on the straight, the rear-end came around. I think I have it on video....

indeed. He's that kind of guy. Let me guess, he dropped everything and went right on down to take care of it. Look up enthusiast in the dictionary, there you will find his picture.

Yep, we all know the story. Every year at Daytona, someone always hits the wall at Nascar turn 4 usually due to a tire delamination. Another blowout so to speak happened on the front stretch and that tire tore his car apart, the car behind him and FOD'd out the track with all kinds of tire and car parts.

You probably aren't going to get those kinds of speeds at the track attack, but the idea is the same. I think I heard someone mention you might see 160 on the ovals at Charlotte, but the cars are being maintained by professionals and they keep a good eye on the tire pressures and condition. On top of that, it is a very regimented program that doesn't take you too far out of the envelope.

Anyone looking to save $250 should find other places to save the money. Not getting track insurance could potentially bankrupt some you if your car was totaled.

Enthusiast he is, and a good friend. We go back to the Terminator days. He was such an enthusiast that he was the only member of the Motor City Terminator CC that did now own one at the time (he owns one now!)

BTW...we are on a mission to resurrect that club and I am supporting Leo in taking the reins and bringing it back to life.

I remember the day he bought it back in November. Do you still have your T-shirt?

My wife has a '97 cobra convertible in pacific green. Remember when 305 HP was a big deal? lol.

I just got off the phone with him a little while ago. I was told to calm down and breath, LOL. I have come to find out Ford isn't the problem. A little information pays dividends. I wouldn't have opened my big mouth had I just had some idea what was going on.

Anyway, maybe I might see you at the track attack. We will see.

That would be cool if you can get into the September 13-14 session, Tom. If not, I am sure our paths will cross the Floridian landscape at some point.

I do remember 305 HP was a huge number, then it jumped to 320 in 99'. The 2000-R blazed a trail for the Terminator at 385 HP then the shoe dropped at with a whopping 390 HP in 03'. And yes, I had one of each iteration (except the R)- 96', 99', 03' and a 07' GT500. Here are a couple pics of my 99' and 07'.

A large vinyl decal would be needed for Daytona in December
