I wish I could say “ are you crazy’ but now maybe they will shut down air traffic??? This SH”T is getting out of control! I’m not a news watcher, am I missing something?? How does the flu shut down the globe?

well I don't see them shutting down air travel completely but I could be wrong.

As for the "flu" shutting down the globe I see it slightly different COVID-19 attacks the lungs which is slightly different then the flu hence why it seems to be affecting the older demographic more. We go through a Pandemic every 100 years and the Spanish flu was in 1918 so we are right on track. Statics show we can't stop the Pandemic but I think they are trying to level out the bell curve, the media is causing a panic it shows that we live in an instant gratification and instant information world now. Developing a treatment and vaccine in 18 months is lightning fast it's akin to building an aircraft carrier in 3 years. Surprising how we just can't understand things that require R&D is not like making a hamburger at McDonald's. If we practice a good Nuclear Engineering principle we will be just fine. Time, Distance and Shielding has worked for decades in Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Weapons. We can't get rid of radiation but we can minimize it by limiting time maintaining distance and using shielding when possible I see this as no different then that, hence it should not stop our lives rather pick the activities that are most important and drop the non important ones from our daily routine.

I know this is opening a can of worms on this topic and I'm going to be killed most likely I got thick skin....lol.

To me it’s a great explanation, my problem is I see things through tunnel vision. I haven’t been sick in over 20 years. I never even went to or even had a family doctor till 3 years ago when I had some sleeping issues. My kids share my very good healthy living. So I have a tendency of looking at things very one sided. I like the nuclear compares ion

We were talking about the same thing last week...
I think its more likely than not. The daily expenses to run an airline is mind boggling. Nobody is flying. This is worse than 9/11. I believe american has cut service 70%. The airlines are looking for a bailout to the tune of 50 BILLION.

That's aside from the fact for public health the government could ban flights anytime now.

If they dont, it's just a matter of time before they are all in bankruptcy and not too far down the line cease all operations for financial reasons.

So yes, it's more likely than not.

I completely understand. Just hoping and praying it does not happen.

unless this thing fizzles out, and that is highly unlikely, I don't see any other way.

Agreed. Spoke to another pilot from United and another Shelby friend who travels overseas for his job. They both agreed it's going to get worse before it gets better. My buddy stated that Europe outbreak "has not peaked yet".

I hope he is WRONG.

Other than perhaps in some areas of China, it would be pretty much impossible for any other location to be declining in cases because there's no vaccine and people are still spreading the virus. IMHO, what we need to see is a reduction in the RATE of contagion and only after that gets low enough, will we see the number of infections declining.
