I have a square tire setup for my GT350 that I am going to run. What is everybody doing for TPMS sensors for their track tire setup? What is the preferred method to keep track of tire pressures at the track?

I use Shrader EZ sensors in my rims, trakc what dash says and compare to my gauge. So far they have been dead on accurate

Any issues with the syncing of the Schrader to the factory warning system? And how do you do it?

Hey Chris, I installed factory tpms into my track wheel set. Discount tire installed them and within a few miles they synced up with the car and was able to read pressures. Discount Tire also told me should they not sync, they would manually set them. Free of charge. These should be the ones you want/need with the steel stems.

Any new TPMS sensor ID on a ford application will need to be learned. Once they are programmed as a specific frequency and ID, you will need a tool to wake the sensors up when you start the relearn procedure.

Now the best way to do it, and what we frequently do here, Clone the factory sensor ID's. That way the car is unaware if one or another set is on the car. You can switch between your two sets, and no relearning will be needed.

Yeah my 2nd set of wheels has TPMS sensors and I have the $30 sync tool so I can have them synced up before I leave the house (if driving on the wheels to the event)

However I use a higher quality gauge for adding/bleeding pressure at the track. The TPMS are just to help watch for flats, etc

What is the procedure for cloning the tpms factory sensor? Is there a link to it somewhere? Thanks.

cloning cant be done at home, you need a TPMS tool capable. We use Autel tools. any Tire shop worth its weight should easily be able to clone and sell you sensors.

All right, so I may have jumped the gun. I bought Schrader 29205 tpms sensors that “programming is not required, just follow the OE relearn procedure after install”. Do these require the wakeup tool? Sorry to be dense, hasn’t sunk in yet.

Yes they require a wake up tool. Once you get the car into learn mode through the ignition button and brake pedal you will need a tool.

again, any tire shop should have that and be willing to do it in the parking lot
