Hello,
My S550 2.3 EcoBoost displayed a low tyre pressure warning on the dashboard.
Popped it to my local fitting place. Checked the tyre for puncture/damage.
Discovered that the OS side valve/TPMS sensor was faulty and was allowing air to escape slowly.
Advised I return to my Ford Dealer as should be covered under warranty (Electronic device/sensor).
Booked the car in and dropped off early morning. Phoned me to advise that the NS side valve was also faulty and needed replacing. They only had one sensor in stock and replaced only one of the two faulty sensors and tried to send me on my way "duty of care speech/wouldn't allow myself to drive away a dangerous car". Kicked up a fuss and rejected the return of the car. Courtesy car acquired.
However they have now investigated and have requested the replacement of all 4 alloy wheels (custom pack) along with all new sensors. Corrosion is the reason/explanation for this. Lady on receiption said it's been occuring across the Ford Range. Car has done 13k miles.
Anyone else heard of this? Design flaw? I asked the question if the replacement alloys and sensors would resolve this long term. To which I have no solid answer/confirmation.
Thoughts please.
