Hear me out..lol

Most likely going with an ess kit so I was thinking about a stall converter.

I was researching the difference between the 10l90e and our 10r80e and the factory cover parts are identical.

Now I can't find the factory stall on a 10r80e but the factory stall on a zl1 10l90e is 2500.
A factory zl1 converter is 500 ish dollars.

Anyone tried this?
Anyone know our factory stall?

I believe it’s around 1950-2200. So going up 500 ish RPM wouldn’t really be a large enough increase IMO.

The 10L90 is a different animal than the 10L80 (which is the sister ship to the 10R80). Better off getting the right converter than playing science experiment IMO. Plus as Cory said, you’ll need more stall than ZL1 converter would give you. The ZL1 has a PD blower as stock, so power comes on much sooner than a centrifugal. I’d give these guys a call:

It was just a thought..

Diff animal? Eh
I know it has stronger parts and more clutches. Case and tourque converter are the exact same dimensions. Same thing they did with a 6l80 and 6l90.

My thought was if I can better my 60ft from 1.8 to 1.6 then that puts me at my target et..

I figure if I can get the TC for cheap enough from a buddy at the dealership I may try it.

I believe the GM version is a 5 or 6 bolt design for bolting to the flex plate.
Ours is 4 bolt mounting.

Sh-@.

Your right..

Some of the stock photos on the TC sites show the same bolt pattern but stock for stock they are 4 and 6.
