What does everyone use for TW? I have a quality TW but its max rating is 180, its tough putting 110 with it, cant imagine 150 will be easy. Do you recommend using one of those expensive CDI ones?

My torque wrench is maxed out at 180 and I have no issues torquing my lug nuts to 150. After all, That's what they are made for.

I have Tekton wrenches. They get the job done and if one breaks I'll buy another.

I need a new one for over 75lbs. But my one up to 75lbs is a craftsman and works great.

I bought my 1/2" Matco that goes to 250 (I think) used from a pawn shop, I sh*t you not, and had it inspected/calibrated at www.teamtorque.com. They said it was in great shape and calibrated it for me no problem - also said never get rid of it. My 3/8" is a Craftsman from around 2002 and the same place calibrated it the same time as the Matco and they said it's very accurate (not as accurate as a high-dollar, but I built a Harley engine with it and it never had a problem, haha). Both of those are the click style units I have. Then I have an Eastwood 13630 3/8" digital (beep) torque wrench that I use only sometimes because it seems to have a finer cog in it (or whatever that's called; number of ratchet clicks) - good for tight spaces, but I like click-type wrenches. That only goes to 100 but I have been really happy with it and if I torque something down with it, then cross-check it with my click wrenches they seem to line up (of course that isn't a real test, but piece of mind enough for me.) So maybe consider something from them? Also teamtorque.com often sells used high-end torque wrenches that are calibrated by them (none in inventory now, it seems).

Just whatever you do, don't get the 1/2" torque wrench from Lowes. Whoever made that piece of crap should be ashamed of themselves. I got one of those for the lugs to take with me to like a track day or drag strip or something (impulse buy...) and I've gone through two of them. Third one is working fine; I guess it's nice I can go to Lowes and replace it whenever (after waiting in line for a month) due to the lifetime warranty. But the first two would skip on my if I didn't operate it at like a perfectly perfect 90* angle to the bolt.

My work requires me to torque every bolted joint we touch. That being said I am a supporter of the snap-on digital torque wrenches, I send them out every year to be calibrated and have never had one fail ( out of tolerance ). Sure you can find a cheaper one, just be informed before you purchase.

Would this wrench work to torque the oil filter? The lowest setting in thiis wrench is 25ft pd and the filter calls for 18-20.

Suggestions?

You would want to get a 3/8 drive to torque lower settings. Or possibly even a 1/4 drive.

Should have all three in your toolbox.

this ^^^

Check and see what drive your oil filter tool is, most are only 3/8" but you need to verify. Nice to have 1/2" TQ wrench for larger bolts/nuts, a 3/8" lower max rated TQ wrench for smaller items, and as stated maybe even a 1/4" TQ wrench for fastners that require in.-lbs.

I stripped out a camshaft cap bolt on an aluminum cylinder head on an R6 years ago. Had to buy a whole new head and re-do the job due the piece of junk torque wrench I was using not clicking at the appropriate torque.

After that I bought snap-ons and never looked back. IMO buying a cheap torque wrench is like buying a discount parachute to go skydiving with.

Precision Instruments makes excellent split beam torque wrenches at a reasonable price. I have both a 3/8" and 1/2" with the flex head that have performed flawlessly.
