The RS3 has a calibration that is unique to the production vehicles rated at 670HP the retail kit we produced with Ford Racing has the cal rated for 627.
Do you know why that is Kyle?
So, there are 2 different tunes, I take it? One for the Phase 1 kit for V8 Mustangs and the other for the actual Roush Stage 3 cars? To get the 670 HP, you need to buy an "actual" Roush car. I guess it's all in the marketing.

(I'm not knocking on Roush, just looking for an answer. I own a 2013 GHIG RS3 and love it.)

This is correct. SC kit is 627. Car is 670hp. Both are engine hp, not RWHP.

The RS3, like all Roush production vehicles get some items specific to the vehicle. Usually badges graphics etc. For 2015 it was decided to let them get their own calibration. The numbers I've seen have been nice, most appear around 560 wheel on the retail kit and I'm hearing of the production cars putting down a smidge over 600 wheel

Yeah,....I just saw a dyno video of a '15 Stage 3 Phase 1 car and it put down over 600 HP and almost 500 lbs. of TQ to the rear wheels.

This is all good news for RS3 owners, but I'm 3 weeks into troubleshooting this issue with FRPP Tech support and they've offered nothing in the way of a tune update. If Roush can make 670 horsepower, and I'm guessing they're doing this without the drivability issues all of us unfortunate Roush / FRPP supercharger phase one owners are experiencing; when is Roush going to step up and fix this issue? If the fix is in the tune the RS3 uses then they should be willing to give us that tune. If I could do it over again I don't think I would waste my money on this kit.... Just saying with the connections that Roush and Ford Racing have they shouldn't have the best kit out there with zero drivability issues.... It's pretty crappy that the cost of this kit is comparable to that of what Whipple, Kenne Bell, Vortech, and Procharger offer, and they all are claiming more horsepower. Not that the Roush kit isn't capable of the same output as the others, they just won't give it to you unless you buy an RS3. Maybe FRPP should have stayed with Whipple instead of teaming up with Roush on this. Seems to me like there is too much of a conflict of interest and they're intentionally detuning our cars so that people will be willing to spend $70k on an RS3.

You guys can't really expect Roush to give you the calibration for their Stage 3 car.

It's probably safe to say that calibration has the same flaws as the phase 1 kit cal albeit with a bit more power.

Roush is not intentionally making the phase 1 have issues. Intentionally less performance than a Roush stage 3 car, but not intentional issues that you are discussing here.

I spoke with a Roush rep this afternoon. When I explained my problems they asked me to bring the car into the dealer for datalogging. I have an auto and the calibration has just been released.

The problem I am having is what I feel is a lack of power in 1st and 2nd gear.

I've reached out to FRPP and Roush several times over the last 3 weeks. Roush I've never heard back from, FRPP tells me every time I call they're waiting for engineering to take a look at it. FRPP also reminds me that every time I call the reason it is such a low priority to them is because I'm the only person known to them that is having this issue and their test car has no issues. In other words they think the problem is between the seat and the steering wheel, and not a problem with their tune. Seriously... This thread has been looked at over 2k times and several people has indicated that they have the same problem. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one who has called to report the problem, but if I am you guys need to report the issues to them as well. A few things have crossed my mind though... The kit is available as a Roush part number, and a Ford Racing part number. The earlier version of the Ford racing kit you needed to send your PCM to Roush for a flash, or you needed to take it to a dealer where they could load the tune for you. The newer version of at least the FRPP kit comes with the ProCal 3 USB to OBD2 cable that you use to upload the tune. People who are having issues and people who aren't having issues. Can you let us know what kit you have (Roush part number or FRPP part number) And if when your kit is one that came with the interface to flash it your computer yourself or if you had to send it away / take it somewhere for your calibration... Perhaps they used different calibrations before they were providing us with the means to flash our own cars. Also maybe their are small variations in the tunes provided by the two.

Not sure it matters, but here's my info.

I bought the Roush part number back in November. Installed in April and my tune was written by Roush in April. I flashed in my garage with RDT. Oh and my car is a manual.

I know tunes created prior to mine did have some issues (CEL, etc). If you worked with Roush they created new tunes for customers. I haven't heard anything since that time (other than this thread).

I haven't really messed around with my car. But if I'm in Track mode with Advanced Trac off my car responds how I would expect. No real issues.

Mine was a Roush installed by a Ford Roush dealer the first week of May. They told me they had to send the CPU to Roush for reflashing. Mine hick ups very seldom and I swear it is because the road is not perfectly smooth. It never falls on it face or goes to no power. It is like it touches the brake for a millisecond when the tire looses traction, because of a bump. I have no real complaints. I have a manual with 2k miles now. I have given mine the beans very often and very happy with the way it drives. I found the fuel cut off once and I could swear it is 7500.

Hi Everyone,
I read about the power issues of it feeling like it's falling on its face. Is your launch control on? Even with traction control off and advance trac too, my car with launch control on will shut down power when the wheels break loose. Once I turned it off, no more issues, I can get the tires roasting and no loss of power issues. With launch control on, as soon as the tires break loose, the car just looses power and falls on its face. Hope that helps. Look for the LC on your instrument panel. If it's on, it will be illuminated by sport mode and track mode icons.
