As most of you who are reading this are aware, one of our members TylerM35 put together a nice little installation guide for an aftermarket 8" touchscreen.
Please see the original thread here: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38767
This has quickly become a very popular buy, and a few members have started to notice some issues with this unit after installing. I've decided to start this new thread so that we can discuss these issues together and keep all of the relevant information in one place. I will plan to update this first post with new issues as they arise, as well as their status.
First things first, the user manual (thanks GeoffyH): http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=55374&d=1452085670
Next is the "Engineering code" which is 888999 (thanks psoff and Edwin). This code gets you into engineering mode which...doesn't let you do anything more than you weren't already able to do.
Issue #1: The sync is in Chinese
Status: Resolved
The earliest acquired units appeared to speak to you in Chinese rather than English. It seems as though this issue was resolved with the latest units, where members have commented that the Sync is now in English and works just fine.
----------
Issue #2: Menus for USB, Line In, Phone, and Bluetooth are all in Chinese
Status: Resolved
The earliest acquired units appeared to be all written in Chinese. It seems as though this issue was resolved with the latest units, where members have commented that the menus are now in English and work just fine. Even with the later units however...the only remaining chinese is the 'Play/Pause' button on the SYNC screen, but knowing what this button is/does has most folks simply being fine with it.
----------
Issue #3: Music will be interrupted by a brief 'blip' when pressing any buttons on the navigation screen
Status: Resolved
While in the navigation mode, you can go into the settings and set it to not interrupt music.
----------
Issue #4: With the car in Accessory mode (and the car is off), the unit will turn off after only 1 minute.
Status: Resolved
This is a drastic drop from the standard 15 minutes that you'd get with the stock system. This has only been mentioned by member futbol90x, and was later confirmed to be a non-issue. This was likely just the car saving its own battery and cutting power to the accessories as it's programmed to do. Worth a mention regardless in case this becomes a trend with other members.
----------
Issue #5: While in reverse and switching into drive, the screen displays a blue screen like it's either trying to still get video from the input and there's no feed, or its switching to the AV input.
Status: Resolved
As a workaround, hitting the OK button takes it back to the home screen and all is well. Member djshaffer has said, "At first, every time I put the car in drive, it would display a blue screen..then I found out that the screen has an option to have a front camera..you can also turn this automatic blue screen off in the settings too."
--------------------
Issue #6: The master date/time will jump ahead to mainland China time
Status: Pending Resolution
Members have reported that the master clock cannot maintain US time, and instead will randomly jump ahead to mainland China time. Initial reports indicated that the time jump was "only one hour" but this is false. Depending on your US time zone, the clock is jumping ahead by 13/14/15/16 hours. Folks in the US Eastern time zone for example...their clock will jump ahead by 13 hours. You can confirm this because if that jump takes you into the next day...your date jumps ahead to (while the screen makes it appear as if the jump was only an hour if you're looking at the time only).
Keep in mind that the clock within the Nav is totally separate. The clock within the navigation app works fine, and will maintain the correct US-based time. As a workaround, some members have set their unit to boot to Navigation mode so that they see the correct time right away.
It has been suggested that the main clock may correct itself once we switch into Daylight Savings Time in March...we simply have to wait and see.
Members with later units have all reported that the clock on theirs is working fine, with no jump issues at all. These members all have an option in their settings cog on right side of home button to select their region, and it's thought that this option is what has held proper time in the later units.
The following build version has been confirmed to have a working clock:
Build: Nov 30 2015
App: MustangH 8.0.1253S
OS: OS:20151014S
----------
Issue #7: Outside temperature is displayed only in Celsius only
Status: Pending Resolution
No known fix at this time.
----------
Issue #8: Opening the car door (with the car off) will turn the head unit on (allowing it to play audio without having to first put the car in Accessory mode).
Status: Pending Resolution
No known fix at this time.
----------
Issue #9: Cannot play video files from the unit's USB connection
Status: Pending Resolution
This is likely going to be an ongoing issue, and will require testing to determine what video files can be played, and which cannot. It has been mentioned that the unit will play .mp4 files (up to 720p) but there was mention of a slight lag. No other video files have been confirmed yet.
----------
Issue #10: The 'Ph' in "Phone Connected" is cropped
Status: Pending Resolution
While the 'Ph' is cut off...everything else on the screen seems properly aligned...so not sure what the deal is here?
--------------------
The following things are not real issues, meaning there is nothing wrong with the product's advertised functionality. Instead these are just some things that people have noticed that are worth mentioning for future buyers.
No screen mirroring
The advertised product never specified that this was an available feature. Several members have been disappointed that this is not a feature though, so it is worth mentioning. This can be added through (additional) aftermarket means.
----------
The screen is very glossy and reflective
Some people have noticed this, and said that while operating during the day alot of the light coming through your windows is reflected in the screen. I can personally attest to this...while in motion I can see the trees and building outlines moving across my screen. If this becomes too much of an annoyance, screen protectors and anti-glare shields can be used. Some examples...

----------
The TPMS displays all zeroes and all distance units are shown as kilometers
Like the screen mirroring, the advertised product never specified that this was an available feature. It simply doesn't work, and was never intended to. Several members have been disappointed that this does not display, so it is worth mentioning. Note that Ford's TPMS and all displays will continue to work on the 4.3" screen in your gauge cluster.
----------
The unit beeps annoyingly loud every time it's powered on/off
No one knew that this occurs until the first installs completed. Simply an annoyance.
----------
There is no simple way to turn JUST the radio off
No one knew that this occurs until the first installs completed. This is a major annoyance for me. The entire unit can be powered on/off by pressing the volume knob (same functionality as stock). Powering the unit off sends it to a black screen that displays the time and day of week, and all audio is turned off. However...these are fancy 8" screens. We bought them to display shit...did we not lol. Sometimes I just wanna drive and have the maps displaying...no sound. I've found that once I turn the radio on (doesn't matter if it's AM or FM) that the best way to turn it off is to select another media option that won't do anything (such as 'Video'). This is the only method that I've found that will allow me to operate the unit freely without the radio playing.
