I will try that tomorrow to see if I can get sound from the nav.

So are you able to play the radio, cd or music from factory USB at all while the nav is on ?

Thanks for the info
You can play the Radio and Nav will work, but you just will not have Nav Sound while playing Radio

I don't believe the code would be in (any) new firmware, it is built into the unit
this is going off of some experiences with IP camera firmware.

the firmware file contained the passwords to gain root to the device.

think about it this way - you have a file that is meant to update a device. the device needs a way to authenticate the files/allow for file system change.

not to be argumentative, just something you might want to dig into.

Is the 'no nav commands/voice' a widespread problem? Is it tied to a specific build, or does it affect both OCT and NOV builds?

Edit: It would be nice if someone experienced with the system could make a 'cheat sheet' giving set-up tips/tricks. Kind of a 'one stop shop' for getting the system up an running while sitting in car, without having to read over all the threads.

Not sure how wide spread it is. My unit has a Nov 30th 2015 date.
Seems like everyone that was posting early on this topic are not posting anymore.
i tried the file that Edwin has, but it seems like it does nothing.

Does the TPMS still read correctly on the dash info display with this unit installed? I've heard some say the TPMS on the Tomtop display doesn't work, and some say the factory TPMS display doesn't work. Looking for some ground truth.

I'll check this out for you. I can confirm that it definitely does not work on the TomTop unit, however everything in the actual dash that uses stock functions should work 100%. All the factory connections remain the same when it comes to that.

Thanks for checking. I'm re-reading all the threads in preparation to install mine. I came across one post in which the OP stated his dash display read zeroes. I'm thinking he may have meant the Tomtop display.

Yeah the regular display in the gauge pod works fine for the tpms but in the unit itself it just says 0 psi for all wheels

Does anyone know if Siri hands free still works with the Tomtop screen?

It's winter here so I haven't drive my car since the install of the unit. For all you DD drivers what's the cons with this unit in everyday drive.

Honestly my biggest complaints are with the clocks and a couple minor things (misspellings, sometimes it doesn't display my podcast info on BT). Those are mostly the ones that bug me.

Oh, and for some reason it doesn't have a reverse camera delay feature (something I used on the stock unit).

Just installed mine. 30Nov2015 build. Clock is correct. Install went pretty smooth, with the exception of that blasted 12v outlet. What a pain. Definitely remove the Sync box for extra clearance to get to the back of the CD player. I didn't break any of the yellow or blue dash trim clips. Quick list of my issues:
That annoying 'beep' when the unit powers on and off. Can I turn it off?
Navigation voice is too quiet. You can barely hear it with radio playing. I have the volume in the nav settings at 100%. Also, when you tap any button in any function (radio, nav, etc.), all speakers except the front left are muted for a split second.

In the upper left corner, where it says 'Phone Connected', it's cropped. 'Ph' is missing. Screen alignment?

Once, when I shifted from reverse to drive, the display went blank. Selecting 'ok' on the bezel beneath the screen cleared it.
With car off, opening the door powers on the unit, but it turns off as soon as the door is closed. Aren't some units staying on?
Wife will use it more than me. I'll see what she noticed.
Any help with my bugs is appreciated.
