Ok, i have had the unit installed for about 3 days, and its working as designed. The navigation is surprisingly good.

I especially like the "next 3 exits" feature when you are on the highway that makes it easy to see whats coming up on a road trip.

I am unhappy that there is no easy way to zoom in or zoom out on the map when you havent selected a destination or cursor position. you have some slight control by selecting whether you want it to be close in, normal, or further out in the map options, but while you are driving it will try to "smart zoom" based on size of road, upcoming turns, and speed. I hate that.

But my biggest problem with the unit is the fact that the screen is so glossy and relatively dim. Even with max backlight, in the daytime the glossy screen just gets overwhelmed by the reflections for me. And god forbid the sun is behind you. No screen does well with that, but this one just disappears.

the video playing on it is very hit or miss. certain codecs work ok, many are laggy. you just have to try it out and see.

it does feel like it is worth 300 bucks to me, but not a lot more. Basically it will keep me going until someone figures out a way to get a real radio installed in these cars. I feel for those guys, after seeing what the circuit board looks like behind the center console, you can imagine the engineers seeing that and just giving up. Its not just a few circuits, there are embedded 80 pin controllers on that board... super complicated looking.

I've got 5% tint on my rear window and 20% tint on my sides so I haven't noticed glare whatsoever but a lot of people seem to be talking about it. If you have plans on tint at all try that and also try that anti glare film that Edwin is talking either one or combination of both I'm sure will do the trick if your tints not dark enough.

so for iphone i chose to go with a wired set up. This allows phone charging and gets rid of all issues associated with wifi screen casting. I used these products http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Lightni...&sr=8-9&keywords=lightning+digital+av+adapter
http://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Ext...4155&sr=8-3&keywords=lightning+cable+extender

http://www.amazon.com/Tendak-Compos...TF8&qid=1452894225&sr=8-4&keywords=HDMI+to+av

http://www.amazon.com/Male-Female-s...894771&sr=8-1&keywords=2+female+to+1+male+usb

those are the only things you need to buy unless you don't have AV cables lying around the house like I did (red white yellow av cables like for an older tv). I installed the tomtop Via the write up in another post, but I attatched the Yellow av video cable to the DTV cable on the tom top harness and the white and red av cable into the tom top harness as well. I then ran the three AV cables and the tomtop harness USB wire with the usb splitter cord under the center console all the way to the back of the console (console removal is also outlined in another thread). I then hooked up the hdmi to av converter to the cables that i ran and used a small 1 ft HDMI cord to hook the iphone digital Lightning av converter and a regular lightning cable to the USB splitter that is attatched to the tomtop usb cord then hooked up the HDMI to av converter (it has a power cable included in its box) and the lightning cable into the Lightning av converter. at this point you should have screen mirroring enabled once you hook the Lightning av converter into your phone! I went a step further and drilled a small hole into the bottom of the center console under the arm rest to run the lighting cable extention and hide all the other wiring so only one lighting cable shows from the bottom. if there are any questions or if this isnt clear please let me know

Can't you just use the stock USB port in the center console with this system? Another member said the stock one worked the same as stock to charge and play etc.

You could use the stock one in conjunction with the one from the radio...however you would have to sacrifice one input port (the stock one) to be able to charge your device as well also it clutters up the console I'll have to take a pic of the inside of my console but I only have the one wire coming out and the other sub port is open in case my wife wants to plug her phone in. The splitter is used for power only and keeps your stock sync options open.

Has anyone tried updating there firmware using the file Edwin received. I don't have my unite installed yet. Just wondering what version date it is and what it fixes.
Where did all the earlier installers go? Seems like they disappeared.

Yeah I'm not sure where everyone went lol. My unit has been installed for about 2 weeks or so. I'm just not a big tech guru and not sure where to go with the files Edwin received. Just standing put until someone figures out how to crack this thing.
