Ok, I've decided to upgrade to different wheels/tires for my car. The rear will be wider with a beefier tire. I have a VMP tune that's set for the stock 19 tires. Can I change the size via the SCT4 without altering the tune? Do I need the TPMS reset tool? I am ordering the wheels with TPMS already installed. Thanks.

With an automatic car, it is important to have the correct tire revs per mile set in the tune so the PCM can accurately predict when to shift. This can usually be done through your X4 as long as it is unlocked, some tuners will lock the adjustment section after they send you a file so the end user can't mess with something, then blame the tuner if it goes wrong.

I emailed VMP. Here is their response: Paul White: Hey Kevin, the speedometer is not able to be adjusted with the tune via the device. This is a parameter that is not adjustable on the 15+ Mustang GT's because the wheel sensor is controlled by the Body Control Module. This does not affect the tune though.

I can't change the tire size via my SCT4? How is everyone else changing their parameters?

Thanks,
Kevin

I think this can be done using FORSCAN and going into the PCM to change a few values. Search the forums to find the FORSCAN threads and you can find some info there. I assume most people aren't changing their parameters at all especially if there isn't much MPH difference between the two tires. Google tire size mph calculator and see how far of it is.

For instance, I went from 235/50R18 to 285/35R19 and my revs per mile only changed by 11 and my speedometer only changed by 1 MPH if the original tire speed was 65MPH. On the new tires I would be going 64MPH while my speedo says 65.

thanks. I am on factory 19's 255/40. Contemplating going 275/40 x10.5 in the rear. want the staggered look.

20mm is not worth the change IMO. 295/35s will make a big difference though and are roughly the same diameter.

I have black on her now. The guy that special ordered the car with the black accent package(I bought the car with 61 miles on it in June 2016 after the original owner traded it in). I don't like the wagon spoke looking 19 inch wheels. I appreciate your assistance on this decision, lol. Now gotta wait till September to get them!

You can ignore my post in the other thread now, did you get the TPMS as well or planning on getting those switched from your current ones?

Wonder how those Sumitomos compare to the Indy 500s.

I ordered Ford TPMS sensors. I am hoping the Sumitomo's hold up for about a year then switch. The p zeros have held up pretty good for 26000 miles. Lucky I live in Florida so not much cold weather just rains a lot.

Gotcha, I thought about ordering the set from them mounted and balanced and getting the TPMS somewhere else (I've seen em around $50 for the set), but wasn't sure how much a shop would charge just to throw the sensors in the there.

Yeah I paid $46 for a new set via Amazon. Not paying the $112.00 on their site.
