Today I went to the Ford Dealership here in Naples for tires. Was looking for 285/35r19 front and 305/35r19 rears. All they could get me was the PS2 street competition tires. Nitto was unavailable here in Florida. They were very friendly and took my number while they were going to try to find other possibilities. Has anyone else had this problem trying to buy summer tires like Nitto 555 or PS4’s?

The 305/35r19 size is tough as not many manufacturers produce that size for whatever reason. If you have a Discount Tire near you, check them out. They might be able to get you something. Same for Tire Rack.

Nitto might be having a shortage, I have been trying to buy 345 30 r19 555r2's for a couple months. Settled on r88r's, not to happy with the noise but traction is great. Discount tire direct tech line said nitto gave them no eta on restock

There is Discount tire on the other side of Florida. Tying to keep it local….if possible. If it takes a while I will try ordering some. I didn’t figure in tire availability when I made these plans. Thanks for the response and advise. The bummer is not just the initial build but tire replacement if a road hazard happens in the future.

I get that, I try to keep stuff like that local as well. Michelin makes the Super Sport in that size if anyone local to you has them.

I’ll look at the r88’s. Can get PS2’s. Would hate to get caught in the rain too much with them.

They did have that tire. Was wanting the ps4 for a little longer wear. But the super sport would be a great performer

Yep it’s a good tire, the predecessor to the PS4S. It would do better in the rain than the Sport Cup 2’s too.

Correction I’ve got myself confused. What they had was the street competition version which was half slick half tread.

I just got into the Mustang platform 2 years ago and I agree, this forum is great! Prior to buying my 2016, I’d been a GM guy for 25 years.

First, super sport is great, I had those on my 2019 PP2 instead of the PS4S.

Second, it does seem size matters. I'm changing out the F1 asymmetric A/S on my 2021 (265/35/20) for Continental extreme contacts, and they were readily available. So were PS4S.

I will be the outlier that says the super sports suck. After a few heat cycles, they get hard. Then it takes forever to get enough heat in them to get them grippy again.

Check out discount tire direct and tirerack. But yes, there is a nation wide shortage. I ordered tires in June, still waiting on the rears to show up. Supposedly TireRack has one of the two remaining tires, and the second arrives on the 26th.

If you are willing to pay, I know a place that has RT660's in stock. But they are seriously marked up.

Many manufacturers are facing unprecedented difficulties, everything from a shortage of raw materials, to carrier delays in shipping after they get the product built and trying to get them here. Many manufacturers have shifted their focus to keeping sedan stock options available which leaves the larger or more Niche sizes in a deficit.

The 555RII is currently on national back order but the 555G2 is currently available in both sizes you noted.

Interesting. I went from the G2's to the PSS and it was night and day. I never noticed the issues. I had the G2's about 12 months, and the PSS about 6. These F1's are ridiculously squirrely in the rain, even driving way conservative. Terrible tire in that regard.
