I recently bought a set of new wheels and tires for my 2019 Bullitt.

https://lmr.com/item/WK-382906A/mustang-sve-x500-wheel-kit-19x10-bronze-15-19
Wheel Specs
Size: 19x10
Backspace: 6.88"
Offset: +35mm
Weight: 24.2lbs

The manufacturer states that these wheels fit this car perfectly and there are several images of Mustang GTs with these wheels installed.

The tires I chose are from tire rack.

275/40ZR-19 MICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S 3+ (W- OR Y-SPEED RATED) 6-RIB TREAD DESIGN SL

I had these shipped to NTB.

Just now the installer says he doesn't think this tire and wheel will work on the front of the car due to interference issues.

I have read in several posts where people have used 285/40 tires on the front of S550s even when lowered an inch. Mine is all OEM until the Calimer transmission arrives later this week.

Do I need wheel spacers or are the tires guys just off?

Stock suspension?
Did he say where he thought you would have a problem? Suspension, fender, both?
I have 275/35/19 in front with no issues. Before I lowered the car there was plenty of room. My offsets are 42mm. No spacers.

The 275/40R19 makes the height 27.7 inches tall. Compare that to your stock size to get an idea of what is happening height-wise.

He said the tire could contact the shock when compressed.

I think they are just scared to use a non OEM wheel / tire on the car for liability.

OEM is 255/40/19 on front. I am just making the front and rear the same size with 10" wheels.
So now they would all be 275/40/19.

I plan to have the alignment done right after.

It's .7" taller but I'm thinking you won't have any problems with rubbing in the front.

27.03" to 27.66"
Of course that is theoretical / nominal.

And the tire would be 20mm wider as well. 0.787" wider.

I just don't think the car would be that close on factory wheels

https://www.americanmuscle.com/tire-sizes-for-s550.html

How Big Can I Go?
It has been shown a S550 Mustang can comfortably accommodate a 315 tire in the back and a 305 wide tire in the front. Running a 315 tire requires no modifications for clearance, (only requires a rim wide enough to mount it: minimum 10 inches) and the same goes for the 305 width up front. Conversely, back in the Fox days, guys were flipping or removing quad shocks, rolling fenders, shaving control arms, etc. just to run 275s in the back and 245s in the front! The Mustang has come a long way from then.
As far as rim height is concerned, provided proper offset and backspacing, a 305 wide tire on a 20" wheel can be cleared. Certain other sizes can be utilized as well, however it can depend on suspension setups.

If this is true why are the guys at NTB so freaked out over 275s?

With your offset, I would not expect a problem with stock suspension. I wonder if he's doing the math backwards. You would have a problem if your offest were more than about -43mm. But at -35mm, I don't see a problem. Now if you have some crazy-fat springs, that might be an issue.

you will be fine. i just installed a set of Ferrada CM1 20 x10 all the way around on 275/35/20 tires on my 19 GT PP2.

No issues, no rubbing or spacers. My suspension is stock with magnaride.

Your biggest concern would be the brembos and +35 should do it without a front spacer.

post up some pictures when done.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I will post a few images when I have good light.

I figured out the confusion.
The service manger and the tire installer at NTB in lake wylie sc
5121 Charlotte Hwy, Clover, SC 29710
Are simply incompetent.

I list the address so we are clear I am not referring to all NTB locations. Just this one.

They were concerned that the bottom of the spring perch would hit the top of the tire when the suspension was in compression.

They also said the tire rubbed the wheel wells when turned.

So I drove home and put the tires on myself.

Their first point is absurd because the tire and spring perch move in unison, they will never get closer. Ok maybe at high speed with tire growth. But with Y rated tires under 150mph, I don't anticipate any significant tire growth. I rarely go over 100.

At rest, I can fit my hand between the tire and spring perch and all the way around the tire even when at full lock. There is 3/4 to 1 inch all the way around the tire.

So the second point was just a lie.

I am disappointed and will never go there again or buy tires from them or any other service.
I only went there because Tire Rack had the tires I wanted and Tire Rack said they were a trusted installer.

Not so.
