I has some over the top stripes put on my car in 2018 so they've been on for roughly four years and 22k miles. It has been garage kept most of the time. If I plan on using hot water to aid removal, about how hot should it be? We have an adjustable electric pot that heats water to a preset temp up to 212 very quickly.

The aluminum and steel I'm sure I could use boiling water but for the bumper I'm pretty sure that's too much. Be careful with a heat gun, they can go from "just a little more" to "way too much" really fast. There was a guy who posted here that he melted the base of his 2019 GT350 swing with a heat gun while he was trying to take off the stick on dealer advertising.

My son-in-law just removed his stripes on a 04 GT. He found a steamer worked best. The moisture helps with the glue.

Warm with a heat gun or even better the hot sun. They should peel right up adhesive and all. Unless they are Ford stripes. They come off in tiny pieces.

Don't overthink it. It's simple.

If any adhesive is left, use denatured alcohol to remove or goof off.

Steam is the best method. Hot water will probably work but it will take take longer. I'd look for a rental steamer.

For any remaining adhesive, go to a paint store and get some 3M Adhesive Remover. I think Walmart and other places carry it as well.

if your afraid of the heat gun (which is great if used right) use a hair blower dryer. It s a little more forgiving. Keep your pealing hand near the blowing air and if it s too hot for your hand you need to backoff on the spacing.

Anyone see any ghosting of the paint after removing the stripes from the paint not exposed to sun under them?

I'm hoping not since I kept it mostly garaged and didn't drive it all that much.

Wonder if the Shark floor steamer would work with microfiber.

If you can rig that steamer to provide a slow to medium flow from something like a Shop Vac hose, it will probably work fine.

Soaking paper towels with adhesive remover and then laying them over the stripes with a towel on top overnight will definitely help, too.
