I have tinted lights. Local shop here. $250 for all six. Two taillights, and all four reflectors.

If you do tint your tail lights, please don't overdo it. The other day someone with tinted tail lights hit their brakes and I couldn't tell. I was only able to tell when I saw the car getting bigger in my windscreen.

He’s right. I’m not sure the mixture they used on mine, but you can still clearly see the brake lights when I brake. That was important to me. I made sure to mention that to the paint guy.

I got a cheap "entire car" ebay tint for $25. Nicely cut, but definitely takes some patience with the hair dryer (to mold and bend them into place). Plastic covers exist for the pre 18's, which clip or stick on. The LED tails are bright as normal, especially at night, which was important to me.

I'm never tinting my tail lights. With tinted tail lights, if someone rear ends you, they can explain that since your brake lights are tinted, they couldn't tell you were braking. Rear ends are supposed to be clear cut 100% their fault, but I could see where they could have a case against you. Life is already full of shit sometimes, no need to give it a potential boost just have your car look slightly better.

Have any pictures with brake applied to see how bright they still are? Also, do you know the tint % they used? Looking at letting same shop that did my windows do these on the rear but not sure if 35 percent is enough or too much.

I‘m thinking the tint is sprayed on. Probably a clear coat with black tint added.
I also know you can buy a rattle can application specifically for tinting.

Please no one paint your tail lights it is not cost effective. Go to luxe auto films and select the S550 specifically cut vinyl overlays for all the lights - tail lights, side markers, reflectors only on headlights etc. I have this kit and will post pics when I get a chance as this along with 20% tint transformed my car to all black and blue which I love. They have all different shades and matte or gloss too and best part just pull it right off if you want and don't ruin the lights. I also have the dark gloss tint all over and light output is not an issue at all the lights are bright enough still.

Mine isn’t film, it’s tinted clear coat.

I really haven’t thought about this until this past week. Seeing a GT with their brake lights tinted looked great. When they hit the brakes you wouldn’t know they were tinted.
Call me a safety nazi but it’s not always about being seen while applying brakes. A little red can help any time.

It's window tint I believe. My detail shop did it as a favor so I don't know for sure, sorry.

I can say that the pre-cut SEC10 kit sucks and left red showing so I pulled it off.

Which was surprising as I used their kit for one of my Germans and it came out fine???
