I'm aiming to buy the 3.7 V6 but have never owned anything that wasn't a 4 cylinder-and I hate the thought of a timing belt. So my friend who has a Gotta Have It Green '13 Track Pack said it has a chain but the dealer said it has a belt. Which is correct?

Timing chain, serpentine belt. You have to specify between the two.

The cams are turned off the crank by the timing chain. The alternator, water pump, and a/c compressor are turned by the serpentine belt.

Its a chain. If its a T-belt- I wouldn't buy.

I still have a Porsche 928 GT that come with Timing belt- Need to take everything off(radiator, coolant pipes, wires, etc) just to change that belt. That's why I prefer chains...
