2019 10R80 car..I am hearing like a thud sound when going from drive to reverse and vice versa. I hear it on occasion when coming to a top as well and or when taking off from a dead stop. Its not a metal creaking noise nor is there anything rubbing or loose underneath. I have checked all the suspension and it all looks like new and is tight. it does it with the E brake on as well. Sounds more on the passenger side rear diff area. Any suggestions on where else to look or what to look for?

That's kinda normal in these cars...doesn't matter if they're manual or Auto, 6 or 10 speed...There's a good amount of play in the driveline that causes this sound. It's dependent on many factors too. You'll notice that some times it does it an sometimes it doesn't. Chasing it, is kinda pointless, because, to get it fixed you'll end up spending lot of time and money to get rid of it, just to get it back in few thousand miles of driving. If you do burnouts, or if the transmission bang gears(sometimes autos bang gears in Sport or Sport+) it could make things worse.
My take, is to not expect German car level of refinement out of the Mustang. What you can do to reduce this effect is to change the way you drive and pay attention to when this thud happens. Keeping the driveline under tension will reduce this noise to some extent. For example as you're coming to a stop don't ease on the brakes during last few feet before coming to a stop(that's when the car shifts into 1st gear and if there's not enough tension on the driveline it will make that thud.) keep the steady pressure on the brake until you come to full stop. Same idea, when you want to go from D to R. If you keep the driveline under tension and give transmission enough time between going from D to R (~2 seconds) you'll minimize the chance of the noise. Even with doing all mentioned above, there will be times that it will clunk regardless, so it's not a sure thing, but hope this helps.

Thanks for the insight and yeah it makes sense. It just took me off guard as it just started doing it this past weekend. I dont beat the hell out of the car but yes on occasion I enjoy to do some pulls but I always make sure the driveline is pre loaded.

I would check the Bearing Carrier Upgrade

I would check the Carrier Bearing

Thanks and will do. I am going to put it back up on a lift this weekend and see what we can find. It has to be something not working as it should be.

I willing to bet it's that
I'll check mine out as well. Could you elaborate more on the carrier bearing upgrade more? And also how to check it and if there's a part number for the upgraded part?

If you put it on a lift and have a second person in the car, have them keep the brakes applied and shift from D to R and back again repeatedly, you should be able to find the source quickly enough.

jxb makes a carrier bearing upgrade , i have one and still havent installed it since i got it in april . You have you cut you old one apart and bolt this one over whats left. They make them for tons of cars and the only complaint i could see is the price, everyone who has one is happy with it , lots of happy people , i just need to get around to it .
