There are always 2-3 active threads going on about the damn throttle in these cars... Has anyone converted their stang to a cable system and lived to tell about it?

No one is going to do that and have all the modules play nice with each other. The electronic throttle is tied into too many systems that rely on throttle control and signal. The entire traction control system relies on throttle input/position/response/control. It simply can't manage what it needs to mechanically. Then you have the EEC's parameters for safe mode as well.

A good engineer can fix all that. You would just need a computer controlled override that can disengage something like a clutch in the throttle body and take over control.

A cable system would give everyone what they really want from the throttle pedal, full control over the throttle plate.

Hey, I'm also all for a cable driven throttle body but it's more work (and money) than it's worth, unfortunately.
Yeah, pipe dreams I guess.

DBW is not "new" it would be super easy to do even 50 years ago. The reason we have it is due to driving nannies. It's a further disconnect from a driver.

I'm not sure putting ITB's on the coyote is really looking backwards... needs a throttle cable!

ITB's can be done with electronic throttle. BMW has been doing it for years on M cars. It's just a VERY expensive setup. For example on the E9X M3's S65 the throttle actuator for just one bank is almost a 2K repair. And most of that is the part. Very nice setup though. I just don't know how feasible it would be in a late model mustang to retrofit such a setup. Vaughn Gittin JR has it on his RTRX' coyote aluminator but I'm pretty positive that car is stand alone controlled.

why not just get a competent tuner to "fix" your dbw issue? we have access to all the tables to make it work like a cable driven throttle. $200-$500 or you can rig up some hodge podge bs and end up putting it back to stock and paying for a tune anyways after you get pissed off at yourself for trying it in the first place.
