Hello all,

Started looking at Mach 1's about a year ago and I'm not sure I want to invest in the insurance rates those attract. So, I started looking at GT Premiums.

I'm currently looking at a '21 GT Premium PP1. I'm not even sure they know it's a PP1 as they don't touch on that on any of their ads. But, it seems they're asking a PP1 price. They're at $42,900. It's got 11,500 miles on it.

I am attaching the AutoCheck and the Carfax. They differ quite a bit in their assessment as far as how many owners but the dates all match. The dealer (not a Ford dealer) says it's a two owner car. As does AutoCheck. Carfax says 5 but groups 3 together.

I'll add I don't have any intention on paying what they're asking, but if I can get them under around 38-39K, who knows. Also, my first car back in 1987 was a '78 Tangerine Mustang II - 4 banger, auto. Joke of a car, but it was my first nonetheless. So, I have a thing for orange Mustangs. I also like the idea of a stick - fun to drive. It's got the leather, non Recaro seats, which I like. I am a little leery of the PP1 without MagneRide as it may not be the comfortable ride I'm looking for, and I'm not tracking it. Just a toy to rip around town in.

Anyway, if you have time, take a look.

Thx,

R

I purchased a '22 GT from dealer and wouldn't touch it without them Gold certifying it, for whats that worth. It was a one car owner and 20k miles at the time. If you're back is in good shape (i'm on the back 9 of life) and not tracking it, Magnaride may not be needed? Ultimately I used KBB/TrueCar as a guide and offered what i felt comfortable with. Good luck!

I'm always leery of buying a high performance car from anyone other than the original owner. This car may have been owned by two people who beat the hell out of it. It looks like a nice car and if is still has the powertrain warranty it would make me feel better but you just don't know how it was driven. At the very least have it checked out by a knowledgeable mechanic.

The non-Magride cars are still plenty good, so no need to worry about ride quality. Also, it appears that a Wisconsin owner bought the car from an Oklahoma dealer brand new, so the first couple of “owners” appears to be the registration of the car in Wisconsin. It doesn’t appear to have actually changed hands in those scenarios, but I could be wrong.

Car looks well optioned and Twister Orange is a great color. If you like it, go for it. Price does seem a bit hefty but considering the mileage, color and options, it’s not egregious IMO. High $30’s is probably about right but if it’s a car you plan to keep for a while and it’s what you really want, I wouldn’t lose it over a grand or two. Again, just my opinion.

I would normally agree, however, depending on the year, color, options, etc. that you want, it may not be feasible. S550 has some age on it now, so finding original owner cars is going to be more difficult. As long as it’s been checked out mechanically by OP or someone OP trusts, I wouldn’t let the fact it has had multiple owners stop me. Others may feel differently. TO is a color that was last produced in 2021, so any TO car is going to be 4-6 years old now.

I went through a similar process; Started looking for a Mach when I found a super-low mile PP1 stick. WITH Magneride and active exh.

Looking at the Carfax, it was sold as new with 50 miles in Oklahoma in May of 21.
Less than 2 weeks later, it's getting a title and registration in Wisconsin?? Maybe a dealer trade?
Then in December 21 it shows up in Ohio with almost 7K miles on it.
End of January it gets sold to someone in Michigan... Then it's in the care and custody of a Ford dealer from February of '22 to December of '25? But only gets 3700 miles put on it...
But it is NOT at that Ford dealer now...

This car has been passed around a bit. Have an independent shop go through it Ray.

For that price and age I'd look at a new model.

PP1 doesn't add a whole lot, you can do better on your own. Those wheels are heavy and I was so happy with the difference when I replaced them.

Also did you check the VIN for any issues?

I ordered a '19 GT and it came with bad paint. Ford bought it back eventually, then it sat on a lot in storage for a year from what I could tell, then it got sent to NJ dealer who sold it again and the new owner lemon lawed it some time after.

If this thing sat at a dealer for a while I'd be worried about it having issues like the one I had did.

I definitely think Ford tried to sneak by badly painted car off on someone else.

No, it was serviced at that Michigan dealer from 2022-2025. Also appears that the registration is renewed every year in MI (same for here in IL)

I bought my '21 PP (PP2 was discontinued in '21 so no real PP1 & PP2) with 21k miles on it and it was great. Price looks to be about 2-3K high (as you alluded to in the OP), but if it rides good and feels good and you can get an extended warranty, may be worth a look. Looks like a great car - but that many owners turns me off big time. 11k miles and 3+ owners? something doesn't smell right.

Again, I don’t think there’s been more than 3 owners. Looks like there was some registration stuff but there’s no other indication the car actually changed hands that many times. Especially when you look at dates (an actual documented purchase and then some of the registration/re-registration stuff). CarFax picks up all that stuff and thinks it’s an owner change when it’s likely not.

The Autocheck report is only showing 2 owners, that seems to track more with all the registration stuff in the Carfax.

Thanks for all the insight folks! I'm going to go take it for a rip in about a half hour.

All said, there's a '21 convertible in silver (second favorite color) down in FLA with the PP1 and the MagneRide. Only thing it doesn't have is the B&O system. 16,522 miles $36K

That's fair. The Autocheck mentions auctions in Tx and Fl back before it came to Michigan? The car is certainly worth a look.

3 is still far too many for 11k miles

It’s hard to know which one for sure is the most accurate. AutoCheck seemed to have cleaned up a lot of the registration stuff which I think is helpful in determining the actual ownership chain. It’s a nice looking car from the picture.

That doesn’t concern me as much. Seems to be a nice weather only car based on the mileage. Consider too that the 2022 sale was at the height of values coming out of Covid. The seller probably made a good buck on it. A lot of people traded out in 2022 to capitalize on values and “upgrade” to something else.
