I ran the car hard on a stock motor. As you can see in my sig the trap speeds show 3 different power levels. In the back of my mind I was always worried about it letting go from OPG or a cracked CG.

650/520 on 10psi
725/550 on 13psi
785/590 on 15psi

Those were all done on the stock internals for the car from TB to oil pan

A lot of people told me I didn't need the gears. I had people I trust explicitly tell me don't do them so they sat in my room. I then thought who would pay for the motor if they did fail...I'm not saying their wrong for their suggestions but my car is sponsored by me so I'm responsible for it.

After a few 7600/7800 rpm pulls I'd say you'd be hurting your powerband if you didn't get them done. The confidence to rev that high and the new found power is worth it.

Collin at Racing Integration in Tampa did a great job. My brisk 12ys plugs had went bad and he isolated the issue within an hour to that and the car is running even better than before. Collin made some suggestions and I listened and we went back to NGK which the car is loving. Peace of mind is hard to find with installs and performance vehicles. The gears help bring it to us running these high rpm/big power stock motor setups.

Absolutely. I loved playing around from 7250-7600 on the way home

Oddly enough after reviewing my logs the car was only seeing 14* of timing on my 10.3@139 pass lol...she's getting forced 20* next week :headbonk:

I was in the fence about them when I started my build, but for less than 1300 for parts and labor i just didn't think the risk was worth it. I would have been pretty upset with myself if they let go and I knew they were suspect and ignored it.

Glad it was just the plugs! I just finished installing my gears and it was a PITA but I'm sure it will be worth it. I was installing my procharger kit and had to stop due to a main bracket part missing. Hopefully I get it soon and can complete the install and have fun with it! I'm wondering if I should go with some NGK plugs now instead of the brisk ones that came with the kit....?

high hp cars should have the plugs checked often.

we prefer the brisk and they work well

mmr runs them in their 6 second coyote, we run them in our 7 second coyote

the difference is, if you lose a tip with a brisk, it will burn up before doing alot of damage

ngk, your def gonna do some damage

just wondering why you were only seeing 14 degrees timing? was it pulling timing? perhaps your seeing some false knock?

Yeah on the higher boost it pushed out the discharge pipe after the blower because of the expansion coupler so it made contact and transmitted house to the knock sensors. I swapped a coupler and she's ready to rip.

Is installing the OPG and crank gears something you can trust a normal mechanic to do or is it yet another thing I would need to find a high end specialist for. I just have no idea what's involved with that job. How many hours? Thanks in advance. I am just wondering if it's easier (and less expensive) when my S/C goes in to have it done at that time.

You want someone that has done them in the past. Setting up the chains is the most important part. if done wrong it will cost you bent valves.
