Note - i know, i know, but this is not a blower on road course thread :)

Been reading all weekend on how/what causes these failures?. Made a pretty impulsive purchase recently, and didn't take into account the cost of having these installed

During HPDE at local track, I tend to stay in Higher RPMs, between 5000 and 7,500 in third and fourth fourth gears, clipping the rev limiter on occasion (3.73s). I'm sure I will need to relearn how to apply throttle with the blower, but good thing is I never mash floor it anyway.

I am planning to request the most conservative tune possible since I already have a lund nguage

Question - Does driving at these high rpms for extended 20 min sessions with a stage 2 put extra stress on the crank increasing the risk of failure?

I'm not the expert, but my understanding is rapid/abrupt ON/OFF of the throttle is more risky than simply being at high RPMS. But, yes, you are putting extra stress on the crank. That said, unless you're very good, I doubt you'll require as much high RPM activity in HPDE as you did before. Conceivably you will traverse any given distance faster (assuming grip and racing line compliance, etc.) with more power and therefore spend less time at higher RPMs. So in theory, you could ask for a tune that blocks you off at, say, 6,800 RPM to be safe for track days which would also help keep engine heat down until you get yourself the supporting modifications you want. I guess... are you going out there for the DE part of HPDE or more the HP part?

without a doubt yes, you're in the red zone with that kind of driving and occasional loss of traction

DE part of HPDE... leave the car in Sport+ max and probably won't have random tire spin RPM spikes or dips.

typically, the bouncing on the rev limiter, using 2 steps etc inflict the most damage

Wow, my dealer said $1800! I may be making a trip to Washington PA after the first of the year LOL.

How long did the install take? Where you able to be there in the morning, leave later that day? etc?

Call Tim at Rodeheavers Hot Rod Shop. He charged me for 8 hours. I dropped mine off for the next day and then picked it up but he had it done in one work day. His personal car is an S550. The $700 does not include the price of the parts... just labor.
