It's been done before. Here is an extreme example Ferrari 2.0 V8^ I could live with that.
Agreed, and the new CAFE standards are completely unrealistic. They want to raise gas mileage standards then turn around and complain they aren't making as much tax revenue to support roads. In fact the whole gas guzzler tax is nuts because they actually generate the highest tax revenue during use. I'm all for cleaner environments and better efficiency. It just seems like lately we're getting super restrictive laws crammed down our throats. It would be better to standardize on fuel types, optimize the supply chain, and allow for more energy development (coal, nuclear along with "clean energy") to eventually handle high volumes of electric cars. Not defending the Obama legislation, but both political parties have participated in steadily increasing CAFE standards to combat rising fuel prices.
It's an area in which people's wallets should speak as to what standard of fuel economy they want their vehicles to have, not government intervention. If I want a car that gets 6mpg but sounds awesome and goes 0-60 in 2 seconds, that's my business. If I'm willing to pay for the fuel and the insurance, and the car itself, that's my business.
Irritates me to no end what politicians will make the boogey man these days. Meanwhile my "ecoboost" F150 gets about 3MPG less than my last Mustang (which I couldn't care less about) but because of the way they can game the EPA numbers it's A-OK to the government. Ugh...
Yah this is the sh-t that drives me crazy. They bitch about mileage standards then as we make more efficient cars and they don't make as much tax revenue from gas they have to figure out a way to make it up and screw us more in other taxes (like a mileage tax).Agreed, and the new CAFE standards are completely unrealistic. They wouldn't need more revenue if they were efficient but they aren't and the one thing you never see is them asking for LESS revenue or making due with less.
The v8 will shrink and gain boost long before it dies. I welcome the idea of a 4.2 9000rpm turbo beast... wrapped in an aluminum body... maybe shed some weight...
Besides, once the world stops choking on the BS that is the electric car, hydrogen will prevail and we can have gobs and gobs of power with only water coming out the tail pipe.
Wow. but it's still a V8.It's been done before. Here is an extreme example Ferrari 2.0 V8
Plus the transportation fund is always the first to get raided to pay for other things.Yah this is the sh-t that drives me crazy. Not always though. I don't think humanity is better served by a diversity of opinions on the law of gravity or whether the earth moves around the sungroup think is usually very bad for humanity.
But yeah generally you're rightYep. They don't understand more money in the hand of the consumer means a better economy. Your money going to an inefficient government that squanders it only benefits whoever government picks as the winners.and here i was thinking it only happens here in Australia. the powers that be are obviously global
