Decided that having my name vinyl plastered on the windows of the wannabe racer while driving around wasn't the best idea, so I took the lettering off, but kept them for track days. Also got a couple nice shots while at a friend's this week.

Look at the spacing of the red pin stripes on my hood and rear deck for your reference when you re-do them. I could get you a measurement if you want.

Looks great. I appreciate the offer but I took a little poetic license putting mine on the first time to see how I liked it. Messed around with touching the blue and with some space in between and I liked it butted up against the stripe best. When, if, I redo the stripes, I'll probably do something similar.

Took advantage of the nice weather today and installed parts I had been accumulating. First was a pair of the MMR engine block/bellhousing braces, followed by a pair of Vorshlag brake cooling deflectors that I had painted previously in an unassuming red:

When "simply" adding the brake cooling deflectors... I managed to successfully thread two of the six existing holes before I snapped off the correct tap. Then cleverly snapped off one of the bolts in the other side while attempting to use an incorrect size tap. Will have to get back under there and drill the damn things out at some point, but as was pointed out earlier here:

What a pain in the dick on jackstands.
I had had enough at this point and was running out of daylight as fast as patience. I won't have trouble finding them with the red paint, that's for sure.

Took a quick picture of the passenger side block brace before I quit for the day and looking at it later, I didn't get the 8mm bolt tightened all the way down. Really tough to reach where it is. Also had to grab a bolt, nut and a couple washers to attach the trans line bracket to the front of that ear that it's under in the picture, as I'm not leaving it with zip ties.

Okay, now I can sleep at night. Got the allen bolt tightened on the block braces and cut off the zip ties (see above) and with a little bracket I had laying around, bolted the transmission cooler line to an ear off the transmission case. Will trim the excess off that bracket If I don't find one with just two holes that fits better.

Installed the Optimum Performance extended studs and spacers, along with Ford open ended lug nuts. Went smoothly except that I watched a video of the wrong brake system before I did it. Didn't have the T60 torx bit to remove the caliper bolts and then also realized that I had to remove the hub, unlike the video I had been using as my teaching tool, where it was done on the car. Not terrible though. Need to bring your big boy pants to remove the caliper and hub bolts for sure.

Refinancing and interestingly, the wannabe racer's sticker price was $64,900 and today the car was valued at $62,700. And that's with 16K miles. Should be getting the red rim/track tires back any day. Registered for May 27th track day at NJMP.

Taking the summer Michelins to get mounted up this weekend and get the all season Toyos off the car that went on late last year. (Going to sell the four of them, 295/30 R19, by the way, after less than 5,000 miles). Decided to try out my tire "bags." Bought a set of them with the intent of keeping the interior as clean as possible when transporting the track wheel setup in the car. This way I also avoid putting road miles on the Cup2s and cut the chances of picking something up, a puncture, on the way to the track days.

Have to say, they are a pretty nifty idea and fit the stock 295 front and 305 rear tires without any trouble at all. Even have a stitched in handle for carrying. Works just fine with just the tires, we'll see how it holds up to the weight of the wheel/tire combo after I pick up the track set up.

I use those exact same bags when storing whatever set I’m not using. Had them since 2020, a couple of them are starting to tear a bit. I think it may be due more to the size of my summer set (285/35/20). The handles do work great but also allow you to roll the wheel/tire if you so choose. I will probably have to replace mine within the next year due to the tears but I really like them
