I thought the real reason they were black was to hide the brake dust from the Brembos.
LOL, that's why I'm gonna love 'em! :ford:

I'm forced to like them since they come with the must have PP. Def wasn't a fan, but slowly warming up to them and I think guard is one of the colors they look better on.
It does look good in magnetic too

Ain't that the truth. My Brembos on my old 11 where always dusting on the wheels. They might have been black from the factory then.

Though I really wish ford would have given us PP people 20's option (I can't believe we have 20's on the mustang from the factory now).

I like wheels that match the car. I can understand why old guys would like chrome; chrome looked good on old cars because they also had chrome accents like bumpers and mirrors. The new mustang on the other hand, has black accents. The grill, front spoiler, side-skirts and rear trunk are all black, which makes black wheels look that much better.

My only complaint is that the wheels are gloss black instead of matte black.

If someone doesn't want their PP wheels, I'd be glad to trade with them for my 18's (stock on premium EB) + some cash, maybe use my set winter tires and use the cash to get a new set you like? :)

I think I might strip the paint and paint it some other color. The silver that we saw in France looked nice, but I am a fan of gold wheels.
I've already lined up a good powder coat guy, he's going to strip them and powdercoat them for me for $100/wheel. His reputation is outstanding in the area and he does a ton of work.

Having had a 2012 Boss302 with gloss black wheels I can tell you it does NOT hide brake dust. I makes those gloss black wheels look like they have a layer of brown dust on them and shows it just as easily as any other color. Gun metal hides brake dust the best IMO
I had Competition Gray wheels on my Grand Sport and they did not hide it either. After a short drive my nice gray wheels would be reddish-brown tinted.

weird, chrome wheels look extremely cheap to me.
Agreed. I prefer silver painted over chrome any day.

I think the PP wheels look brilliant. Will look great on white vehicle with tinted windows.

Matte Black (gloss black looks cheap imo) or silver for me. Chrome belongs on trucks/suvs in this time period.

I think black wheels are a generational thing.

Based on conversation with my car buddies and general observations, it seems that black wheels appeal to the under 35 crowd, while traditional wheels of the 80's - 00's appeal to the over 40 set.

Almost to a man ( or woman ) over 40 that I've talked to, the total black wheels remind them of a car that's lost it's hubcaps, and looks, well..... cheap.

I know this is generalizing, and some older folks like black wheels and visa-versa, but I think it holds true.

If I were to buy a car ( and I'm over 40 ) with black wheels, or install aftermarket black wheels, I'd prefer a look with a little contrast, like this:

Not the best picture, but you get the idea.
I'm 53 and love the black wheels, especially with the red brembos peeking through
