I shoot raw. You can kind of see it at first, but as you pull the highlights back down (like I said, I over-expose everything and then pull back down in post), it turns super magenta.
That's wild! I had a 1dIII for some time and never noticed anything like that. Time for an upgrade!! LOL

Can you show an example? It sounds like Chromatic abberation or "purple fringing" and that's a lens design issue.
This a Canon issue. It's been like this FOREVER. All of their cameras do it, it's beyond frustrating. Just got Nikon or Sony to avoid any of that bs.

And it seems people still can't grasp this isn't the share you picture thread, its "Share you picture and information about the picture so we can all take better picture" thread.

Actually, according to the OP, it's the "share high quality pictures of your car" thread.

My 5DII doesn't do the magenta thing.

I also have a 5D mk II which I use most of the time. I use the 1D when I want the extra speed or when my wife also wants to shoot. For the price, it's a great camera!

when i don't edit it out, it looks like this:

TS560x560~414244.webp

strangely, this is taken with a 7d, so I guess it's not just the 1diii.
WOW! Thats really bad! I have no clue what's causing that. Does it look like that on the camera LCD too? Have you tried different CF cards? Almost looks like the highlight clipping warning LOL

I've had quite a few as well (currently using a 5D3, had a 7D prior to that, a G1X, a G7X and a few others) and have never seen this either
