LOL, I've only been at it about 3-4 years now, I've had quite a list of gear too, here's what i have left of my Canon gear which I am still selling, and all my new Sony gear haha:

Canon 7D Mk I
Canon 15-85 EF-S
Canon 70-300 EF F4.0-5.6

Sony A6000
Sony A6300 (in a couple weeks lol)
Sony 16-50 PZ E Mount F/3.5-5.6
Sony 10-18 E Mount F/4
Sony 18-105 PZ E Mount F/4
Sony 50 F/1.8
Sony 55-210 F/4.5-6.3

And I'm sure it's not stopping there, much to my wife's disapproval haha.
That Sony stuff is KILLER! They really stepped their game up the last few years. I've played with both the A7S and A7S II and they are both amazing cameras. I considered getting an A7S, but decided to get the 6D as I didnt feel like buying more glass. I didnt like how the lens adapters worked with autofocus on Canon lenses, so it was a no brainer for me.

This last one really has some pop to it, even compared to the one from Lr. The blues are a little too saturated for my taste but you did a good job with a lack luster shot.
In my completely unprofessional opinion I would drop the yellows and oranges from the background give more separation from the reds in your car. Either way those are some sweet shots.
Good call on both counts. Thanks to you both. Here's a little revision...

I actually jumped ship to Sony because I was tired of hauling around over 10bs of gear with the Canon. The 7D with the 15-85 was about 3.5lbs I think. Doesn't seem like a lot, but over a few hours, it becomes cumbersome. Considering I mainly post the web, any quality reduction (which is little to none based on the gear I selected) is negligible. Plus I am more of a short film maker, so moving to Sony (especially now the A6300) was also a no brainer. I couldn't cough up the 9000+ I could have spend gearing up with the A7RII + lenses though...haha.

Outstanding photography. I have a ways to go to hit these levels. Downtown Detroit has a lot of great places for backgrounds.

Here are a few of mine.

And a few of the Bullitt

Those look great, but you got a lot of orange in the white balance, was that your intention?

Rev,

How much for the Canon 15-85 EF-S?

I'm just starting out but would like to add this lens to my kit.

Thanks!!

Had some clear weather yesterday, so I took advantage. Playing around with some HDR shots...went for kind of a "dreamscape" style. Had some ghosting issues with the clouds since they were moving so fast, but otherwise I'm pretty pleased.

Zac,

Good Stuff! Are there any websites or resources you can recommend for people starting out like me who are interested in automotive (or general) photography. I picked up a canon 70D recently with a few lenses and I am in "sponge" mode trying to pick up as much info as I can....lol.

Thanks!!

Lol. Yeah no problem. I think you have to be a member to view the forum but you may not, check out Photography on the Net. They have a lot of Canon users and some incredible photographers. The site provides a lot of info in certain threads, most are just showoff threads but even then you can really get an idea of what the pros are doing to their photos. They are also the only forum I know with a dedicated "Transportation" section for cars and other forms of mobility.

Believe it or not, Youtube is a great resource and a channel I like to check out is Phlearn because they have a lot of very detailed tutorials and they also stress the fact that the key to making a great image starts at the process of taking the shot. Although they don't focus on cars they will give you a very good understanding of how the tools work and give you ideas on things to try when editing. They also do tutorials on actual photography and lighting and stuff like that.

Your car never ceases to amaze me man. It's just so clean and perfect, even with the PP wheels. Lol. Your photos are just as clean. One of them was a little too tightly cropped for me personally but the others have pretty good, interesting, composition and the color of the car is pretty accurate. Even though they have a higher contrast than normal, they look great to me because of the other things I mentioned.

Awesome to hear you like them. I'm a complete rookie when it comes to this. Literally just started a couple months ago, and have done maybe 4 photoshoots or so.

Just learning as I go, taking inspiration from others.

Funny you mentioned the high contrast, I actually barely touch the contrast. Usually just a little drop in exposure, and a **** hair of addition to the contrast.

I try to keep the color as true as possible, but it's always a bit different in each shot.

I am also trying different things each time.

I've always enjoyed your shots!

Sadly, I think have a dirty sensor at this point. I keep getting dots in my image. Any insight on what causes this, how to fix it, and how to prevent it?
