Double clutching was for non synchro trans like in Semi's. 2nd note wears clutch out faster too especially damper springs/plate
I don't disagree.

To me, double clutch or not is a choice. Yes, double clutch puts extra wear on the clutch assembly but it also saves synchro. For all of you who might be about to say that modern synchros can outlast the trsmission, please also know that the extra wear on clutch is minimal (at least tolerable to me). So, between clutch and synchro, I choose to save the synchro. The main reason I do double clutch is for fun, and for satisfaction when doing it right.

I never notice any issue shifting even if there is "rev hang".
Maybe it's b/c I just got my mustang (V6) less than a week and have driven it for just 300 miles. I am still trying to figure 1-2-3 upshifts out. The rev hang requires me to wait for a painfully long time before dropping to the right rpm value for the next gear.

I have no issue with double clutching. Still using synchro to speed up or slow down gears. Most synchro issue I've come from people jamming them into gear either by missing the gear or 1/2 clutching it.

With Semi doing this eats the clutch and damper springs badly they use ceramic clutch that are very aggressive. When it breaks the damper springs it locks the clutch up have to start it in gear. Most truck driver only use the clutch to stop and go

Now that I have a Mustang (V6), one interesting thing I have noticed is that my 4-3-2 down shifts are smoother than my 1-2-3 up shifts, which I think is b/c I always double clutch when down shifting. Makes me wonder if I should be doing double clutch when shifting up.

Just kidding, last post was 10/29 so not too bad.
While synchros have made double clutching unnecessary, it is still better for the transmission than not doing it, The additional wear on the clutch is negligible, You would have to double clutch thousands of times to wear your clutch as muc as you so leaving a stoplight.

I double clutch when I remember to, but I don't stress about it.

Yes, the additional wear on the clutch is negligible. During double clutch, the added task for clutch is to bring the lay/counter shaft up to speed, which is almost nothing compared to other functions of the clutch. Theoretically speaking, double clutch puts additional wear/stress on all moving parts in the clutch assembly. But I don't sweat it.

I only do it when the trans is cold, where it feels like it needs it. Otherwise my up and downshifts (rev-matched, of course) are pretty smooth when the trans is warm w/o double clutching.
