The Great S550 Chop Thread

If the side profile is indeed similar to that of the S550, I think the front end is likely to be very close to that of the Fusion. I work in branding and corporate design and the one thing Ford is attempting these days is to put forth a consistent design language. They just made the change and are rotating all of their models accordingly. That said, I did a "quick and dirty" merge of a new Fusion on to the "Hero Stang". Quite frankly, if it looks anything like this, I won't be disappointed.
Great photoshop job! I can see the potential now with that rear 3/4. Now if we can only swap out that grille.

Could we interest you in perhaps putting the nose of the sketch (in this thread) onto your render and fill it in? :D

I can probably do that, although I had hoped they'd go away from the current nose a bit more than what the sketch shows. I despise the droopy nose extension on the current model. If it exists on the new model, I'll keep my '06 GT until it is removed.

Less droopy nose?

You did a great job of merging the two. Would love to see what you can do merging either this or the sketch with the hero stang. :clap2:

I was told my chop was "80-90% there, after starting at roughly 50%" by my Ford buddy. he told me that it was more revolutionary than evolutionary, and whoever wanted a copy of the Evos will be disappointed.

He's remaining silent now because I'm too close. :ford:
Did you mean more evolutionary then revolutionary?

Put the usual honeycomb grill insert and a pony and it looks awesome to my eye.

Did he mention what was still off about it? I have to admit, I would buy this thing right now, as a S197. But I'm expecting more for the 6th gen. IMO this would be underwhelming for a lot of people.

Nice work Thed.

You still making any changes to this? I think it would cool to see a different color. The silver/blue stripes making me keep see the hero stang in this despite the changes.

Really, I don't know how to do that. Otherwise I would have made a solid black one already. My chopping skills aren't that good Hahahaha.:headbonk:

Nah, both of them stopped giving me hints because they didn't want to jeopardize their jobs, which I understand.

I'd assume that it'd be the lower fascia, which I kinda half-assed.

Great work, even if I dont love the Fusion grill.

Ford is definitely putting out a more consistent design language but to slap the exact Fusion nose on a Mustang would be brand suicide and they know it. It's not just enthusiasts that think the Mustang needs to have its own identity, but Ford has repeated it many times that the Mustang is its own brand and should stay unique.

That said, I am sure certain Evos cues will make it, including sleeker overall design, slimmer headlights etc. But these are really general things. I doubt we see any one specific element directly lifted from another Ford vehicle.

Here's more of a frankenstein version. I replaced part of the frontal area with a Fiesta front end (part of the nose shape is more consistent), smoothed the hood a bit and replaced the billet bars with currently available blackout versions.
